38 Children Die in Hot Cars

A while back I posted a Discussion about not leaving children, the elderly and pets in cars during the summer. Some people said that it was common sense not to do it. Then why does it keep happening? 38 children so far this year is totally unacceptable. The latest was 2 children in New York. The father "forgot" that they were in the car. What was so important that he couldn't remember leaving his children in a greenhouse of a car...because that's what it's like when the car is in the sun. The temperature rises very quickly. I am so upset by this right now. I still believe that people should report this when they see it and be allowed to rescue the children/elderly/pets when need be. What do you think? This is just so sad. How could leave your kids in a car? Or even just forget about it? I have to agree with you. It is totally unacceptable and totally preventable too.

I agree, totally irresponsible and should be taken more seriously than it is because it keeps happening again every year.

Every year it happens, people are not paying attention and it is heartbreaking. As far as I know, this can be reported.

Wow that many absent minded parents. I think of all the things to forget you children should never be forgotten at all especially in a car.

Dis he/she die? That's awful. No matter what people say or do or no matter what is in the news, this is still happening. I just don't get it. People say that their children are their lives...then how can you forget them?

How can one forget a kid in a car? Stress? Maybe they had a lot on their mind? I can't seem to understand

Friend Linda, I think that due to the lack of awareness on the part of parents or elders, who are in the care of children or the elderly or pets. It should then be prosecuted with the full weight of the law and effectively punish those who violate the rules in this regard. Of course, it will works if people who observe this situation collaborate by denouncing and acting immediately in the rescue. Do not wait for fatality to arrive.
