Chainsaws in a tree

Today we drove out to a flying school to check out a caravan park. As we approached the entrance, we saw flashing lights coming towards us. It was an ambulance with all lights blazing. We pulled well off but it turned into the same driveway we were turning into. We could see the yellow Rescue Helicopter circling overhead so it seemed that something had certainly happened. We followed the ambulance into the flying school but couldn’t see anything untoward. The Ambulance drove down a runway and disappeared over a hill. We stopped at the STOP sign for a few minutes then turned away and came home. On the way out we stopped to photograph a tree which has a number of chain-saws stuck in its trunk. The next big tree along the driveway had a number of shoes nailed to it. We haven’t been able to find out what, if anything, happened at the property. Hopefully, it was nothing serious.

I hope that nothing too bad happened. This is a weird tree, I wonder why all those chain-saws are in the trunk.

@JudyEv I have seen nothing like this here... well not many Swiss wear flip flops. Switzerland, is not exactly the right place for those shoes.

I guess they just thought it might be a funny thing to do. Nailing flip-flops to trees seems to be fairly common too.

We went through all that about a year and half ago, when we had about eleven trees take down by a professional service. It was so worth it.

Chain-saws make short work of trees, don't they?

@JudyEv They do. But they were using a giant machine to take ours out. It was pretty impressive.

Look at that, so many chainsaws in the tree. I am wondering why they put the chainsaws in the tree. Or is it part of any campaign.

It's just for a bit of fun I think. I haven't heard of any campaigns involving chain-saws.

@ilocosboy They would be old chainsaws that had had their day and didn't work properly any more.

A very interesting way to decorate a tree for sure. Yeah, what gives? SOMETHING must have happened. I'd be curious as ever.

Vince was too but I wasn't letting him drive down the runway and follow the ambulance. I really don't like rubber-necking at accidents.

@porwest If I could have a bag over my head so no=one knew it was me, I'd rubber-neck with the best of them.

@JudyEv Yeah. Me either. Rubber necking seems morbid, EVEN IF we all are a BIT morbidly curious by nature.

No. I think it would be the farmer and his friends. Perhaps he belongs to a club and they all gave him their worn-out chainsaws.

There was nothing on the news about an accident so I don't know what it could have been unless they were air-lifting out a road accident victim.

We often come across trees with stuff stuck to them. One we pass regularly has hard hats nailed to a tree but it's difficult to get a photo of it.

You do have to wonder why people do this. We've seen a few different things plastered to trees.
