I felt like offending some vegans today and also offending some people who eats pork, chicken, beef but refuses to eat rabbits because they think they are cute.

I have a secret rabbitry on my home because rabbits is one of the best urban farming meat source. Poultry makes a lot of noise while Pigs, Cows and goats can cause stink scandal on the neighborhood.
I don't buy meat in the grocery anymore because I don't want to eat animals raised on GMO food, antibiotics and cruelty. Rabbits also saves me money because I just feed them grass from my lawn and leaves from my backyard tree. I used their droppings as fertilizers.
I just fed my cousins who refuses to eat rabbits some "chicken" I never told them. None of them have allergic reaction. They said it's the best chicken they ever had but they complained that I should have not removed the skin but I told them chicken skin is slimy and not crispy on stew.

My grandfather's brother used to do that. He had a lot of rabbits and they ate some of them. My grandfather's brother knew that the grandchildren wouldn't eat the food if he told them what it is really was, so he told them it was chicken.

Once I have kids, I will raise them to eat rabbits because the hormones injected to chickens are nasty. Also the cruel conditions chickens live through is also nasty. While my rabbits have happier lives before I ate them.

Although rabbits are not a very common meat, but I think it is OK to eat it. We don't normally have it here, usually we just eat the normal meats like pork, beef, chicken and fish. I don't really think the rabbit taste like chicken. It has less meats in my opinion.

@CaptAlbertWhisker In fact we also regard rabbits are cute animals. Perhaps this is why it is not so common for it to be a food.

@youless There are some Chinese people who starts eating them but only small portion of the population. They are safer meat than chickens, cows and pigs. So it is starting to become a health food. In Europe Rabbit is always been food.

Its common in rural areas in Western countries. Not really an Asian thing because we grow up with rabbit cartoon and anime characters. Based on my experience, they are very meaty but no fats. I kill them at 3 months old.

@CaptAlbertWhisker lol. That's a good point. I have MANY of these critters that roam my backyard and I am an experienced trapper from my pest control days. And I still have all of my traps to boot. If I could convince my wife that we have all this free food roaming around in the backyard, and none of them were Fluffy, we might not need to buy meats for a while.

@sophie09 Just imagine the farmers they destroyed livelihood with because they are pest in the wild, and the endangered specie animals they drove to extinction because they are invasive. Also baby cows, chicks and goats are also cute.

depends on how old they are. A 3 month old rabbit will be soft and tender but a 1 year old rabbit will be rubbery.

speaking of dogs, I feed, the head, intestines and and feet to dogs. I don't want to put any part of it to waste. I eat the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. 4 moringa trees and you will have an endless source of feeds.

I should try this trick.
