A telemarketer called my aunt on the phone!! He said he was selling tickets to a ball to raise money for The Fraternal Order Of Police!! Since my aunt loves dances she said send her two tickets! When the tickets arrived , the ball was in California!!! What's wrong with this picture!!? She lives in Washington, DC!! And she was not about to fly all the way to the other side of the continent to attend a ball!! My aunt's a pretty wise lady!! But They got her that time!!

Miscommunication takes center stage. That's bad. It's misleading.

@db20747 That's a sort of swindling and it's punishable by law.

I'm so sick and tired of all these telemarketers targeting the elderly. I think we can blame some of this bs on equafax when they were hacked last year because it made a lot of personal information public

Some of it @db20747 but they get on the ball as soon as a leak is reported.

Do you think they will misuse her credit card information? Will she try to cancel the purchase?

@db20747 I guess she learned something from that experience. I'm sure it won't happen again.

@db20747 That's how scammers sucker us in, by using worthy causes or promoting worthwhile organizations.

And they are using a noble cause!! The FOP!! I would call and find out who the heck they were!! My aunt must've had temporary insanity!! She doesn't usually buy things over the phone!!

That's how smart they are to sell their stuff. He did not lie but did not say the truth either. They know all the tricks. So What did your aunt do with those tickets?

Life is hard but people never cared and prefers to scam people. And when they are caught they act like a puppy begging for mercy.
