More Bad News About the House

Apparently the builder doesn't want to pay for anything but the land that the house stands on, which is about 20% of the cost of the house. The realtor has some connections to get some of the needed work done. He says we need to get a dumpster, hire some people and have them empty out the rest of the contents of the house that the tenant left. Get someone with a brush hog to cut the 1 acre. Then we need to put a new roof on the house, fix the ceilings in both rooms, fix the wall in the one bedroom and waterproof the room off the garage. (We already had a ton of work done on the house including waterproofing the basement, installing carpet throughout, painting all the walls, installing a new furnace and a/c unit and a new vanity and tub insert in the bathroom.) Then after what we've already done plus what we need to do, he said to sell it as a "fixer-upper"!!! There is a piano and a heavy oak desk that will have to be trashed because no one wants to move them. Such a shame. My husband did apologize; but I'm still in sticker shock at the moment. Hope you had a better day. Photo Credit: Pixabay

Oh dear, I was hoping that it would go better for you than this. I might just cry over the piano. . In our living room is a very nice synthesizer that I really enjoy playing. I was seriously considering an acoustic piano as well. We're holding off on that for right now.

We are going to try to give away the piano and desk rather than junk them.

I am so sorry ... I know it's a hard task to get everything sorted as we want it. Hope soon you will have a good buyer for it who will be ready to pay for everything (including for piano and desk.) I was wondering why builder is looking at it as land and not a complete package... Did you went to a premium builders?

This is part of the reason I got out of the business. Too much hassle, and never felt like I got my return when all was said and done. I actually did, but it just felt like I didn't. Never want to be a landlord ever again.

Maybe you could get someone to help move the piano and desk, those would make thou house worth more probably. I am sorry you are going through this. Another option could never hurt.

I have another post since this one. We'd like to give the piano and desk away rather than junk them.

We also do some renovations and we hate workers. They slow, expensive and don't want to their work.
