People who don't pick up after their dogs

This morning I came back from walking my dogs with dog's mess all over my shoe. I live in front of a field where many people walk their dogs and it infuriates me when they don't clean up. I know it's not a pleasant job but it's necessary and I always think that if you don't want to clean up after them don't get a dog. In the UK, if we are caught letting our dog foul where others walk, we get a hefty fine and there are usually plenty of bins available for people to put the bagged up contents so there really is no excuse. Oh well I'm just off to clean up my shoe. Wish me luck!

People here just don't care and there is no fine. My dog doesn't poop when it akee her out for a walk. She doesn't poo or pee in public. She always waits till we get home and do her business in the usual place she does.

What a sweet dog. She obviously likes to do it in private!

Most people here where I live are pretty good about cleaning up their dog's mess. But there is always the occasional lazy person who doesn't bother to pick up after their dog. Sometimes I think about following them home and smooshing all that dog poo all over their doorknobs! haha

It does make you feel like taking revenge. I had someone who walked past my house each day and pulled plants out. I seriously thought about covering them with dog poo but I was worried my granddaughter would touch it.

@moffittjc True, I've had some very dark thoughts at times when people have upset me

@sprite1950 It’s crazy some of the thoughts we have in our heads sometimes. But I guess it’s ok as long as we don’t act on those thoughts!

Very disrespectful and should be caught and charged for littering.

My house overlooks a dog walking field and people don't realise I can see them. Some people have more than one dog and don't pick up after any of them.

@sprite1950 You should blow a whistle when you see them walk off. I would.

@kareng Yes that would make them think twice although many of them don't even bring bags with them.

That is strange. What happens to the stray ones?

@sprite1950 What is being microchipped?

@vandana7 It is a chip about the size of a grain of rice which is inserted under the skins of the dog. When scanned it tells the vet who the dog is registered to so if lost it can be returned to his owner. It is quite harmless to the dog.

We don't have strays here. If one appears it will be reported and it is immediately picked up by the dog warden and taken to the nearest shelter. Usually it's just one that has escaped and as they have to be microchipped by law here the owner will be contacted and has to come and collect it. That doesn't mean we don't have animal cruelty here. Some people are really cruel to their pets.

What a bunch of crap. No, this irks me as well. BIG time. Just not pleasant at all. Love the sign by the way. That's funny.

We don't get strays in the UK. I've never even seen one before. All dogs by law have to be microchipped over here or face a huge fine, so it can't be blamed on strays, it's just irresponsible owners.

@porwest It's more common in young kids walking dogs. When we first got a dog my daughter was 15. She couldn't wait to walk him until she had to pick up his poo! That put her off completely!

@sprite1950 Did not know that about the UK and strays. But that's what I was mainly referring to. People who let their dogs do their duty and simply walk away.

There´s not many things worse than stepping over dog´s poo. here we also have laws and fines but they are too new and no body minds them.

Here you have to get caught so hardly anyone gets fined but the laws have been in place for years.

I am so sorry, I hate when people do not clean after their dogs.

@sprite1950 People should never refer to getting a dog, but to getting a dog and shovel. And it’s not ok to bag your dogs business appropriately and then leave the bag at the side of the road or hanging on a tree, or to kick the business off the pavement into road. The dog owner should be cleaning your shoe, not you.

Yes! I can never understand why people bag it up and then throw it. It's ridiculous.

People here are pretty good at cleaning up their dog’s messes, but every once in a while there is a jerk who doesn’t. Love the sign!

I also dislike walking their dogs without the ropes. Sometimes I'm much afraid of the giant dogs passing by...always driving me crazy.

It is a nuisance that is prevalent here too. And, above all, there is no fine here for that.

I believe India has a lot of strays so it must be a problem. We don't have strays here just irresponsible owners.
