I watched a very interesting series with Leah Remini (actress from The King of Queens) last year called Scientology and the Aftermath. She was in this "religious cult" for many years. She finally saw what was really going on, left the cult, and is trying to expose the abuse and all of the wrong doings of the leaders.
Each show she would have members who left the cult, interviews, and the each show brought her closer to finally a court date has been set soon to oust these evil people.
The problem is going to be this cult has tons of money, which means the best attorneys will be in court. It will hard to prove all that has been said by these who have endure a lifetime of abuse.
Hopefully it will be enough to sway the court to find justice finally for these ex-members. Last night was the final episode which included more interviews form ex-members. They talked about suicides that were covered up and much more illegal incidents that have gone on for many years.
You may have seen in the news recently that actor Danny Masterson (actor from That 70s Show) has been accused by two women of sexual assault. He is a scientology member and denies the allegations.
Have you seen this series? I found it very interesting and wish them luck in their court case.
Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath gives a voice to victims of the Church of Scientology despite public attempts to discredit them. Leah Remini, along with high level former Scientology executives and Church members, explores individual accounts fr

I haven't seen it, but it sounds interesting. Many years ago my grandmother and I met a woman who tried to pursuade my grandmother to become a member of Scientology, but when my grandmother found out where the woman was from she said no.

@CarolDM Yes, I am very happy she said no. At first the woman didn't mention the name Scientology, she talked about other things, but fortunately we found out where she was from.

I only saw one episode of it and it was interesting.
I have watched another series about the polygamy cult, and that one is interesting as well.

I haven't seen the series but I did read her book (last year, I think?). I grew up in a cult myself (a less high profile one) and a lot of what she had to say really brought back memories.

Kind of interesting. I have been to Tom Cruise's home. He seemed nice enough. We were there with my family because of some stones from the quarry were used there and he invited us to see the way it all turned out. I didn't have a sense of evil.
