The Horse has to get his groupies in order. Can you help me?

About two months ago, I was playing a gig with Mark's "Country" band at a golf course in Antioch CA. There was a table to our left, and the three 75-year-old ladies at said table were having quite a good time. I think wine was involved. My impression was that they were old friends. They seemed very comfortable with each other. At a certain point, one of them started commenting about how she liked the shorts I was wearing. The other women laughed, and I continued bantering with them between songs. This did not please our lead singer (not the one who doesn't pay--this is the one who doesn't like it when other band members interact with the audience), but I play music for fun. Eventually, we were done. The ladies left a big tip, and the most vocal complimented me on my pretty legs and even left her phone number in the tip jar. So now I have a groupie who is about 75-years-old. At another gig with the same band, a girl of about eight became enamored of my playing. Eventually, between sets, I let her strum my guitar (with the amplifier still on) and me making the chords. Her eyes lit up. Before her family left, she gave me the art work that I'll attach as a picture here. It's still on my fridge. So the Horse Charm works with "fans" under 10 and over 70. My question is: how can I "score" some groupies who are in the "age-appropriate" range, perhaps between 29 and 67? In another post, I'm going to write about a long conversation I had with Stevie Coyle, formerly of the Waybacks, about the importance of interacting with an audience. Laughter, and making the audience feel like a part of something special, are key. Anyway, please help me.

When Vince was in the dance band, they always reckoned it would be a great success if they could get the people singing along with whatever they were playing. Sorry - can't help with your groupie problem. Be thankful for small - and old - mercies I guess.

@JudyEv That's great. I like it when audiences get involved.

@TheHorse Quite often the dancers would sing along with whatever was being played.

Heh. Thanks. If a parrot comes and lands on my shoulder while I'm playing, I will make him mine. I'm not that choosy.

I wish you more luck for your next audience. Every time that I wait for my husband at the hospital too young men start to talk with me, I am sure they think I am a lot younger.

@TheHorse I usually take a book with me and I read, just to discourage people to talk with me, but this does not seem to work.

@LadyDuck Do you not like conversations with strangers? I enjoy conversatons with strangers. Unless they want to kill me or take my money (I live in the US). But most don't.

No doubt. Or maybe they can sense that you're not "mean" and are easy to talk to.

@Tampa_girl7 It's one of my favorite kid movies. I think my absolute favorite is Lion King. Is the "new" one a totally different movie from the original?

Maybe I unleash my charms on those out of the dating range to keep myself safe from such silliness.

I was delighted to receive it. Looking at it again, I am wondering if she was trying to capture fingers on the fret board.

I’m too young to be a groupie. I’m not on social security yet! Wait until you’re 67, then you’ll have the age-appropriate gals tripping over themselves.

If it's the same gals who were in my fan club the other night, they'll be tripping over their Depends Undergarments to get to me by then.

So did the front man also have a problem with the little girl?

Heh. Good question. I think the older "fans" were more of a thorn in his side.
