Where There's a Will There's a Way

The camera in my phone is currently of no use (it causes my phone to shut down). My techie son has ordered a new battery and if that doesn’t solve the problem I’ll be in the market for a new phone. Meanwhile, I’ve been scanning through my old photo files in search of appropriate illustrations for my discussions here. Somehow posting without a photo feels incomplete. A couple of years ago we traveled to the small town of Andrews, North Carolina to watch an eclipse. We rented a cabin in the mountains for a few days and turned the event into a mini-vacation. Part of our time was spent kayaking on Lake Nantahala a beautiful man-made lake out in the middle of nowhere. I took a photo of this tree because I think it serves as an excellent reminder of the difference between needs and wants. This tree is an amazing example of what can be accomplished with very little. I can think of a few words when I look at this tree: tenacity and perseverance. I feel like I should go do something productive now.

I love that pic of the tree. I agree and order to include some photo. My not so old phone went back this summer and became unresponsive until after I got a new one. I was hoping it would last another year or more but wasn't healed until after the New one was in use.

I love what that tree looks like just sitting there on its little island. It's interesting what can grow out of a man-made lake. As kid in the Catskill Mountains of New York State, we had a little man-made lake to swim in and it was amazing that at one end a swamp had formed and with a raft, it was interesting to go there and I could get my beloved plants, Cat Tails with their soft brown bodies. I would have thought nothing natural like this would form from a man-made lake,.

It's amazing sometimes how little soil a tree needs for it to survive. Tenacity and perseverance are good words for that tree. I always like to have a photo. If I'm really stuck I'll use a flower or a tree.
