Traffic Rules Not Meant For The Police People?

As you know from 1st of September 2019, the Government has become very strict and started fining the people with a hefty fine n case they are found without the complete papers required to drive a Vehicle and also if found committing a offense. The fine imposed is so high that the fine has exceeded the cost of few vehicles that were fined. The people are in very angry mood. One of the person has even burnt his Motor Cycle public in the fit of anger! It is said that if the Police person is caught committing the offense against the Traffic rules he/she would be charging the double fine. (Though there is no official notification or mention anywhere about this!) Unfortunately Police people are taking this thing very lightly and they are only interested infining the people without realizing that they are committing offense themselves. When some TV correspondents tried to approach them either they have hidden their face or they ran away from the spot! Whole issue looks very cheap and funny to me...it looks the Police is making mockery of the system! May I know your reaction on this issue?

Finally in Italy they are also punishing important people, politicians and policemen. This is how I define "justice" everyone has to pay for his errors, no only "a few".

That is very true! After the suspension of the Police constables who allowed the relatives of the Minister to go without wearing the seat belt I am sure the DIG must have served the notice and fine to the concern person and must have asked him to pay the fine!

If you can't see the double fines for police written down, then it isn't true. Nothing is true if it isn't written where you can see it. I used to ask my mom, where is that written? She would reply, "Is written on your backside by my hand if you don't listen to me!"

They should be named and shamed. And not only that but should be fined heavily too. It is pathetic to see traffic violation in our country and so a strict fine is quite needed. But no one should be above law.

That is very true such people intoxicated with the power of position must be punished sternly! For them violating the traffic rules are nothing! Yesterday when a Constable was caught redhanded and his video was captured he accepted to pay the fine!

Unfortunately in India we are facing this problem because it is being handed over from generation to generation now....though now we are free and no ore slaves of British and the British police the Police Officers have forgotten that they are Indians and should have respect for fellow ndians. They are still behaving like 'British Police' with Indian people!

That is the main and big problem! Unfortunately we have this tendency more in India, because we have more illiterate people living in rural areas who hardly have knowledge about the law and order!

Well the harsh fact is that Police folk in perhaps each Indian state and city and even villages think of themselves as the King. They do not care about laws. I have heard of policemen buying fruits from roadside vendors almost free! And Traffic violation by them is nothing new. There has been some improvement in certain things but still things are not good.

That is very true! Though the British People left te country the attitude of the Police and the rmy remains the same. Today the Police and Army people are forgetting that they are not British to behave like that against the Indians of those times. That s really bad thing to see the police constables lootning the poor vendors who hardly making their lively hood by selling fruits or other things on foot paths! Yes, as you said there are some improvement and hopefully the more will come into picture as the DIG of police in UP has suspended three Police constable s for letting go the relative of politician who was not wearing the seat belt. This is the beginning...a constable was fined for not wearing the helmet on the demand of people! Let us hope things will change for the good soon!

First off, every professional people are an example and index of their domain. A teacher can't be so lethargic, disobedient, dumb .. A doctor cannot be so bad to their health and they should follow all good principles when it comes to maintaining health...A judge shouldn't lie.. A police should be like a hero to us. One of our roll model so we can see them and fight against injustice..A traffic police is of the same kind too.. They should do their duties sincerely and shouldn't make fun of rules by violating them.. that's so bad of these folks. So how will a public follow? Coming to the rules, I'd like to suggest these when a person missed bringing any of his papers or violated traffic rules while driving : 1st time : There should be some record book to jot down the violation notes and first time they can record the instance and give a warning with less fine amount. 2nd time : Seize their vehicle and license and ask them to collect after 2 weeks from the marked police station. When they go to police station, they should write and acknowledge in a letter that they wouldn't repeat this..if not, they will be heavily charged on spot. 3rd time : Charge them heavily. As acknowledged by the public and it's a huge amount. The public will not repeat these... Firstly, we should bring facilities to take notes of each instance. License should be like one passport where we have pages and that should have our remarks.. Wherever we submit our proof, those black marks should be screened.. we will be so cautious there after..

Wow! That is a great way of perceiving the thing and suggesting the solution. There were provisions in some states where they could mark the license for violating the rules depending upon the number of times the rules have been violated. Now a days the computer is maintaining the record. The rules should be same for the people and Police when it comes to follow them, as Police people are also citizens of the country first!

@AKRao24 Thank you so much for your feedback. Yeah, something of that sort must be implemented. Preferable a handbook so that the history can be viewed and the person can be fined accordingly. Even an app would be an excellent idea. Exactly. Rules are rules, there shouldn't be any exceptions. Needless to say why there will be a statue of a women blindfolded with weighing scale in courts. That reminds that there is no word "Partiality" when it comes to "Justice".

Unfortunately India is big country and here we have lot of illiterate population and that too coing from the rural parts , it becomes easier for the police people to exploit such poor people and torturing them! Now with the canging times and changing technology and awareness among the youth together with the education is making soe changes in the society, though the things will take some time to settle!

I think this is a sort of lesson to teach for the regular offenders , especially the commercial drivers and their respective bosses who hardly care about the traffic rules and causing major accidents on the highways. Hopefully tgey will also settle down and make the people understand before reducing the fines!

Since September 1, those who have vehicles but do not have any license of vehicles nor have any other documents have come to their rescue, this government has done well, at least the number of accidents will be less. Yesterday I went to the RTO office, there was not even a place to take the breath of those who got such a huge license.

Yes, at least now people will have their documents completed and keep the conditions of the vehicles in good condition. The rash driving and misuse of vehicles will be stopped by the children now as the fines imposed are too massive now!

The police should lead by example. Here they would not ride three people on a bike and definitely not without a crash helmet. The only people exempted from wearing a crash helmet in the UK are Sikhs but they are wearing turbans anyway but not as effective as a crash helmet.
