Unexpected Visitor in the Yard

Was out watching the bluebirds yesterday splashing around. I saw this rabbit hiding in the cypress trees. I see them often in the spring but not lately. Funny, the rabbits will freeze when you see them. They will stay still for minutes without moving. Survival instinct kicks in. I managed to get a photo but I was on the deck and only had my phone camera, so it is a little hard to see. I love seeing all the wildlife in my backyard. Makes my day. Enjoy your day!

How very cute it's a bunny. We have possums here that come out at night.

@CarolDM I had put out a half-eaten chicken drumstick thinking that the cats around here might enjoy it. At about 3 AM I heard a noise and looked out the window of my front door,. A possum was running off with the drumstick in its mouth

@RasmaSandra That is funny. They will eat just about anything. Now I have that picture in my head. Too funny.

I wonder what the rabbits of Naria can do. The beavers can talk.

@DocAndersen Not sure as they spend a lot of time in the cypress forest.

Although they can leave a bit of a mess behind, I always loved seeing rabbits in the yard. We used to have a jackrabbit that would make an appearance in the field behind our home years ago. Our son was young when he was around, and he would marvel at the speed that rabbit could hop and how long he looked as he was leaping away.

Sometimes the roos will freeze if they see me in the kitchen. I freeze too then it's a matter of whether they decide they were seeing things and they'll go back to eating or they'll decide it's too risky and they'll leave.

It's funny how wildlife reacts to people. Some skitter away in a hurry, others freeze and hope you don't see them. Great picture of the rabbit.

I see it! It might be looking for water. I have plenty of rabbits, they ate my garden, well my green beans.

Maybe so, no water around here except for the birds. Many have problems with them eating their gardens.
