The shipping and tax for the $2 towel set is at least six times more than the towels

Hubby calls me just now and tells me to go to macys.com. They have a set of towels for only $2, if that's not a typo. Tells me to order a set for us and maybe a set for his parents. I go to search for those towels. They are brown or as the site calls it cocoa. Who the heck buys brown towels?
Anyway, a set of six towels for $2 is a bargain, however, figure in the $10.95 shipping and then the tax on the towels and the shipping, which they don't tell me until I proceed with the checkout, will probably come out to $15. They offer free store pickup at Macys, however, the free store pickup is not available for this item. I think I will pass on those towels.
And here is the funny thing. They tell me I am just $73 away from free shipping. Exclusions apply. Like I am gonna get $73 worth of stuff just to get free shipping... No way! I'd rather pay the shipping charges.

Haha. Thats the funny thing of buying online sometimes. Shipping fee is higher than the cost of items.

I love Macy’s and do my one stop shopping on there. Most items I send to nearby Macy’s or if. Spent over x amount to get free shipping
Sometimes it’s only $25 or $39 most days it’s everyday $75 though
Did you try different color towels for store pick up or different store?

The cocoa ones were the only ones for $2. Other colors were higher price.

@infatuatedbby What's so special about the cocoa ones that they are the only ones so cheap? Unless no one wants them.

I was going to order a new hat last night, and it was on sale for only $8. But the shipping costs would have been $20, so needless to say I didn't order the hat. I usually won't buy stuff online unless I get free shipping. Otherwise, it's cheaper for me to just drive to the store and buy it off the shelf. Maybe I use a dollar in gas. Still a bargain.

It makes more sense to go there and get it than buy it online. If I have to go to the store and then back home via public transportation I have to spend in total $5.50 and a lot of time. So sometimes it makes more sense to order online. But if I make a day of it and go to other stores nearby or go eat somewhere, etc. then I can just go there and not care about the money spent on transportation

Yeah, shipping is getting really prohibitive at a lot of online places. Too bad about the towels.

I didn't really want them. If I were to get towels I would not by brown ones.

Are the towels brown and blue colors together or are some towels blue and others brown?

@lovebuglena No they are brown.
Every few years I have to replace the bath towels. I always looks for sales. Kohl's always has a good one. I found these Sonoma towels, buy one set and get one...
