National Defy Superstition Day - Happy Friday the 13th!

1788 - The date is set for the first presidential election in the United States; and New York City becomes the country's temporary capital!!
1977 - General Motors introduces the diesel engine.
1985 - Super Mario Brothers is released in Japan.
1851 - Walter Reed is born. He was a U. S. Army physician. He confirmed the theory that yellow fever is transmitted by a certain species of mosquito and not by direct contact. Walter Reed General Hospital is named after him. He died in 1902.
