My aquarium 30 days after

Just had finished my weekly water change today. And rearrange some stones and driftwood position in my tank to get a new perspective. My fish are doing good so far although I thin I lose another tetra and my male swordtail . My neon tetra now counts as 3, 2 danios, 1 swordtail female and a blue shrimp. Despite the losses the tank seem to be okay and clean for now. Struggle with algae growth is what I am watching as they seem to really grow fast on my aquarium tank glass. It’s unsightly to look at and I am always on the lookout of it and a toothbrush ready to scrape them off when they appear. my fish seems to recognize me and is not afraid of my hand now when they see me dip on the aquarium to clean the glass.

I know that there are small fish that eat algae, do you plan to add a couple of those ones? Your aquarium anyway looks great.

I am researching on that one, but so far they say that they grow big and could be a bit small for my tank in the future.

@LadyDuck yeah although I think they have smaller versions but its hard to find them and i think a bit pricey because they are rare.

@rsa101 I have seen them in bigger aquariums, may be they are too big.

Yes I think it’s manageable. I just need them to stay away invading my plants and glass they could stay in my rocks and driftwood but not the glass i hate them there. Algae helps on removing ammonia and cycle them to harmless nitrates so their presence is not a threat actually.

glad the blue shrimp is still there and the fish know you now. maybe you can ask for help with algae at the pet store?

Actually there is a liquid that you put in the aquarium that says it can eliminate algae. But there is a risk that could kill the plants. So I guess I will just contend to scraping them off when they appear in my tank. I also brush each leaf sothe algae will be scraped off.

@cacay1 I don’t think they’ll multiply since I only have one in the tank.

Thanks. I am happy with the results I am getting. It may not be perfect since I still am losing some fish but then the remaining fish gives me happiness seeing them.

Yeah I get beside it and just watch them swim around. It is relaxing and challenging to make it look like that all the time. I am now in the habit of changing its water every weekend.

Yeah when I go near them they would converge on the surface waiting to be fed.. But of course I could not feed them all the time else the water would be polluted very fast if I give in to them. They even nip on my finger when I put in the food.

@amitkokiladitya Since I have a small tank I realise that water chemistry does change fast in small tanks than in big one so I really need to have water changes more so often as much as the regular 15 gallons are.

Looks like maintaining an aquarium is a lot of work. But the reward is so pleasing to see. Great photo of the fish swimming around in the tank. I always found aquariums fun to look at. So much activity going on with the different fishes.

Yup the longer you see them the more you see the personalities if each fish in there. Then you can create your own stories there. It’s such fun looking at their carefree life.

I am looking for one that doesn’t grow big. Most of them grows big so it doesn’t look well with my tank.

I just think that loss as part of the lessons I learned while trying to make my aquarium livable for them. I think those become part of my journey in this hobby. You win some and lose some. Just move forward from it and enjoy what is left with you.
