Strange Phone Call

Some of you know about the daily conversations I have with my 90 year old dear uncle.
Early this morning he called me. A little unsettling as I always call him.
He told me he was waiting as his number has just been called. Tried talking to him asking if he had been dreaming again.
He was very adamant about his thoughts. He is waiting and ready. Here I am 500 miles away. I told him I loved him and would call him later.
Very sad when our loved ones start to give up.

It is sad when our elderly relatives start to give up. Hope when you call him he's more lucid and that he was just dreaming.

@CarolDM it's not easy being so far away from your uncle. I feel the same way when I call my aunt who is 95 and lives alone

I'm sorry to hear that he may be starting to lose a grip of reality. He's lucky that he has you to call him and talk to him on a regular basis. He lives alone?

It has been gradual and it breaks my heart every time I hear him as he was always in charge and control of everything around him. Such a strong man. He lives alone but has his wife's daughters check on him and an aide, and a retired nurse recently started staying a few days and nights a week.

I am sorry to hear that, it can be scary, and sad when they talk like that. My great-grandmother gets like that too

You are probably the only one calling him. It is sweet of you to do so.

It is very hard when we have to see the deterioration of our loved ones. I hope it was just a passing moment.
