Look y'all! I'll be danged if'n I didn't make 't rain ~

'lrighty, true confession - Mother Nature tossed such a gift our direction. All those rain dances, chantin', burnin' 'f various incense 'twas not all futile 'fter all.
Know what't took? Me venturin' 'nto town. Which ought'a be a 4-letter word coz I truly dislike the place.
Not to bore ya with a day that started with the feelin' 'f Armaggedon, 'nstead I've chosen to share this most gorgeous rainbow. Coz I'm weird like that.
Mr. Thunder cracked a throaty, deep growl 'cross these plains. The kind that sends chills, most eery 'n lonesome. Lightnin' popped like fireworks, diminishin' the clouds'n the distance brilliance. Suddenly, tiny droplets 'f liquid gold fell gently from azure skies.
'twas a brief rain, but I can't 'xplain the goosebumps such gave. Me giddy's a gal with a new pony. Feedin' the herd'n a light mist 's the skies continued to rumble, brief shocks 'f heart-stoppin' lightnin' streakin' 'cross e'er darkenin' skies.
Downright pourin' by the time I got back here to the house. Then, I jest danced a jig filled with glee. Sighs 'f relief heard from all, thankful fer the sips 'f moisture 's 't washed dust off leaves'n slowly pooled 'pon the ground...tricklin' through the cracked grounds with great purpose.
What a stellar endin' to a very tryin' day.19 people like this

You're lucky to have mature trees where you are @crazyhorseladycx I planted the first of mine about 18 years ago

@rebelann the e'ergreens were planted 's wee seedlin's 'bout 35 yrs 'go. ya gotta pour the water to 'em (aka: drip line) near constant the first 3-4 years to get those roots down deep here. thankfully when such 'twas done, we'd more moisture 'round these parts. such'd be most diff'cult to get established these days i'm thinkin'.

I love thunderstorms their so pretty to watch but hate being out in them. We haven't had any rain here in weeks, hoping we get some rain soon so everything is not so dried out. I love the rainbows after a storm also so pretty.

'tis great to've finally gotten some. dunno how wide spread such 'twas? ranchers 've been haulin' cattle off like crazy, no lands left to sustain the herds. hopefully such'll continue 'n the autumn grasses 'll come out 'nough to provide 'til next springs growth.

'twas a light misty rain here off/on all night. this morn 'twas glorious with such - no thunder'n lightnin', took me back to my hill country days 'f light mountain showers. kinda made me a tad homesick.
did'ja need the rains, hon? hopefully such's light so's not to cause floodin'. parts 'f south texas 're dealin' with floods this week. poor plannin' there'n the cities part. i don't reckon folks'll e'er learn to build with nature?

glad you got some much needed rain... we did here in spain too...but unfortunately it resulted in flooding and loss of life and property... but that's more mans fault than natures...

I'm so glad you got rain and the earth accepted it's moisture. I hope you get more. I love your picture!

honestly i ne'er quit writin', jest 'tis been years since i've bothered to 'ttempt to get such published. i wish folks to feel's though they're right there, 'xperiencin' such 'emselves. sometimes falls flat, lol.
oh, 'twas such a blessin' that continued through dawn. that slow 'n gentle seeped seductively 'nto the ground, a much needed reward fer all that's survived the prolonged heat 'n dry spell. got more possibility this eve. clouds 're joinin', formin' a blanket 'cross the sky, tuckin' the sun deep'n 'ts clutches.
thanks! 'lways nice when they're where i can nearly catch the whole thingy, lol. 'twas a double, but 'nly showed faintly'n some 'f the pics snapped.2 people like this

aint 't though? i've still high hopes the drought stricken lands' queensland get the same soon. dunno how much we got coz 'twas still sprinklin' off/on 't dark. 't least 1/4", which don't seem like much to some, 'tis a windfall fer 's, lol.
'twas fabulous, ms. @JudyEv. standin' out'n the misty rain, hearin' the sighs 'f relief from mother earth 'n bein' blessed with that scent from heaven. 'tis been so dry that goin' outdoors 'twas not very pleasant. dry, hot earth burnin' the nostrils.

@CarolDM i think this'd be one 'f the purtiest rainbows i've captured thus far :) marvelous sunset time 'f day. this 'twas back'n july 2011.
we'd none forecast here either 'til next week 'n e'en then they said 'twas jest a slim chance. 'twas hopin' the clouds'd build 'n we'd get lucky 'gain this eve. if'n such's meant to be, i reckon it'll come, eh?

yes ma'am, 'tis been awful since june. lots 'f ranchers floodin' the market with their cattle, not 'nough grasses to sustain their herds. hopefully with 'em carryin' a lighter load 'n the hopes 'f e'en more rainfall, the lands 'll be 'llowed to heal.
the ponies 'n pups t'were not bothered with my jiggin', lol.

We had a little rain shower but we are having crazy windy days and it is suppose to be very windy this weekend. I'll take whatever Mother Nature gives us even windy weather as watching the trees bend and go back upright is a sight in itself!

glad ya got'cha some, hon. that'd be our norm the few days we get any rain - the winds howl'n dries e'erythin' quickly. i, too, 'njoy watchin' the trees sway with the winds with hypnotic precision.
