Got a new bandage put on today

I started out my morning watching “Bachelorette” on Netflix. I loved it. I grabbed my keys to pack my bag then went back in the living room and saw my dog had peed on the cushion where I was sitting. I did my makeup and started watching “Wine country” when my mom stopped by. She stayed for about 20 minutes or so. At 12:30 I went out on the porch to wait for the transportation bus to pick me. He arrived at 12:45 and asked my name. He thought he was supposed to be picking up a man. He had me hop back off while he went to get that guy. I was waiting outside again when I got a call saying the guy would pick me up in 20 minutes. I asked if they would be able to get me to my appointment at 1:45. She said I was written down as 2:45. I was on hold for 10 minutes while she called the doctors office to see if arrive late would be okay and thankfully it was. When he did pick me up he was very friendly and apologetic about the mix up. We stopped on the way and and picked up a nice old lady. We all had a nice chat on the ride but due to turning around to look at her so much while talking I arrived at the hospital quite car sick. I went to the cateferia and bought a bottle of ginger ale. While waiting in the waiting room I finished the book I was reading “Prior Bad Acts” by Tami Hoag. I loved it! The doctor took the big bandage off and pulled the gauze off the stitches which hurt a lot more then he said it would. He was really happy with how good it looked. He said there’s virtually no swelling and that’s something he almost never sees when people come in to have the bandage removed. I was hoping to walk out in my flip flop which you can see I tucked into my purse but that didn’t work out. He put fresh thin gauze around my toe and wrapped it around my foot and an ace bandage over that to keep it in place. I go back the 30th to have the stitches removed then I won’t have to wear the darn boot anymore. I waited outside for the bus to pick me up. Then we had to wait until the woman’s appointment was done before dropping her off and heading home. I got home around 4:45. My foot was throbbing from not being elevated all those hours. Before bed I finished watching “Wine Country” which was okay.

Hopefully you'll get the boot off on your next visit to see the doctor. I think I have a Tami Hoag book here somewhere, but I haven't read it.

@shaggin When do you go back to see him again? I'll get around to it, I am sure. I am reading a book about a spy now. Never thought I would, but it's actually kind of an interesting read.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I go back the 30th to have the stitches removed. I'm reading a book now by Kay Hooper. Called "The Haunting of Josie". It's a romance but has other stuff mixed in. This was when she was starting to turn her writing from romance to horror.

I hope for the recovery of your feet, and interesting stuff you got on your bag. Must be hard walking with that on your feet.

@TiarasOceanView yes I am so thankful they could get me in even though we couldn't get there on time. If I had to wear that bandage until the doctor was in the office again on Monday I would have cried.

@crazyhorseladycx she had gone out not long before and didn't urinated a huge amount on the couch so I think it was to punish me because she knew I was leaving when she heard me grab my keys. She's a naughty girl sometimes! I could have waited inside after while I waited for the bus to pick me up but it was gorgeous outside. Inside there wasn't anywhere to prob my foot up either

@noni1959 I am so thankful I was able to be seen that day. If they hadn't been able to see me then I would have had to wait until Monday to see him which would have been 3 days later. It was so itchy I couldn't stand having it on another day.

@noni1959 so far the stitches aren’t itching at all it’s other spots under the bandage that is itching me.

@shaggin I can't stand stitches after seven days and the itching that comes on is awful. One time I had my daughter remove them for me when my doctor had to change the dates.

This is my first time visiting your post so I'm not sure what happened with your toe, but I am glad it's healing well. You had a long day with waiting for your ride and getting back home. I'm glad you liked the book and Netflix shows.

@just4him I have interacted with you in the past but not often enough to remember much about each other. I had toe surgery. I had a hammer toe and they cut out a bone and a portion of skin to make it may straight and not curl under the one next to it anymore. I am bored to tears watching so many movies and sitting here on the couch but better then staring at the walls.

@shaggin That would bore me silly too after a while. I'm always on the computer working on something. For the past week, I've taken a break from books and trying to get caught up here and watch some television that I don't watch on a normal basis. I'll be back to my book on the first of the month when I start the publishing process for the one I just finished editing. I hope your toe heals quickly so you can become more active again and aren't bored to tears with TV and movies.

I have spent more time with doctors the past 20 years then I did the first 60 years of my life--just think what you have to look forward to!! And, OMG, the transportation bus--that takes up half of your day!! Welcome to my world!

@GreatMartin I am not taking that darn bus again next time. I will drive myself to get the stitches out. He came so early last week to pick up my daughter for her appointment. She might not even be home in time if he does that again so I am just going to cancel that and drive her myself. Which reminds me I need to call and let them know.

Disappointing that you still have to wear the boot but at least you know next visit it will be off. I'm familiar with Tami Hoag but have never read any of her books. Are they mysteries/thrillers?

I'm not sure that I heard or read about your foot yet although I vaguely remember someone taking about wearing a boot, I can't remember at present who. I have a hammer toe in my right foot that doesn't bother me at present either. Had the first person that came to pick you up took you then your day might have been shorter. It's too bed it worked out that way but at least you made it to your appointment.

@MarshaMusselman I'm glad to hear the hammer toe on your right foot doesn't bother you. That's how the one on my left foot is. You don't have a hammer toe on your left foot? I'm going to drive myself to the hospital the next time to have the stitches removed.

@MarshaMusselman That is so strange your toes were straight and then suddenly started to curl under. Mines been this way since I was a baby. Oh man I can't imagine having Staples out then it sounds awful. My boyfriend friend having stitches out doesn't hurt it just feels weird. I hope he is right I'm pretty nervous.

@shaggin no other hammer toe and this one totally surprised me when it first showed up as I didn't notice the toe curving at all before hand. I have a sister who had several toes on both feet that I've thought could end up as hammer toes but mine used to be pretty straight. You foot could hurt again when the stitches are removed. Driving with a hurting for might still be more manageable than being on a ride for hours on end. If you do drive and it hurts like heck keep that in mind. At least it will be a shorter excursion. I've never had stitches always staples. When they removed the staples on my recent surgery that hurt worse than ever in the past so good luck with that.

@DianneN thank you! He had told me before my surgery that some people’s toe never heals because they won’t stay off their feet. I didn’t want that to happen so I obeyed what he said and he said it shows by how good it looks.
