What brand of coffee beans or ground coffee do you buy?

My brother gifted me the Breville Barista coffee machine some years ago so every morning I grind some coffee beans and make myself coffee (sometimes espresso) with steamed milk. I only buy fresh coffee beans from Whole Foods. I think it's called Allegro Coffee. At least that's what it says on the paper bags I put the beans into. They have a lot of varieties. The coffee beans are either $9.99/lb or $11/99/lb. It's not cheap but I love the taste. I've tried coffee beans from other stores and the ones from Whole Foods are the best in my opinion. If only my machine gave me perfect extraction every time. Do you make coffee at home? What machine do you have? What brand of coffee do you drink?

After having freshly ground beans and making my own coffee I am not a fan of instant coffee anymore.

@LindaOHio Me too. I drink a cup every morning, I may drink one in the evening if we go out for dinner or are at someone's celebration.

Used to grind my own beans and use a percolator. Then I discovered Nescafe instant. The best!

What's a percolator? I used to drink Taster's Choice French Roast instant coffee but have not done so since my brother gifted me the Breville.

@lovebuglena A percolator is an electric coffee pot you pour the coffee grounds/beans and water into and it percolates the coffee.

@lovebuglena I thought the photo I shared would help you. The coffee is very hot when it percolates, I love it. And yes, the percolator percolates the coffee in a different way than a regular coffee pot.

Have you ever tried Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee? That's my favorite, but it is ridiculously expensive! I haven't shopped for coffee at Whole Foods yet, I usually get my coffee beans from Fresh Market.

@lovebuglena It’s really good coffee, but it comes at a price! I’ll usually buy a small bag of coffee beans once or twice a year to treat myself.

I have never been a "brand" nut when it comes to coffee. I will drink whatever is cheapest, usually, and never find anything off or bad about it. To me, coffee is coffee. Although, I CAN tell a difference if I treat myself to something "special," as it is usually a tad bolder.

I have a Breville barista espresso machine. My brother gifted it to us back in 2015. Hubby and I have been using it for years. Sometime back, during the pandemic or shortly after the pandemic, it stopped working properly. It wasn’t extracting the way it should. Hubby was going to try to get it fixed. The repair guy he called told him it was gonna be a four month wait so we never went along with it. We went back to drinking Tasters Choice instant coffee. I still have the machine in the kitchen just standing there. I cannot bring myself to throw it out as it cost my brother close to $600.

@porwest what exactly are you referring to when you say coffee pot?

@lovebuglena I have always used "cheap" coffee pots. They stop working, they go in the trash and I just buy a new one. The last one cost me about $50. I've had it for 7 years. lol

That's even more expensive than what I pay. But It's better to pay more and get the coffee you love than to buy something cheaper that you are not a fan of.

I only make coffee when I have a visitor who drinks coffee. I use just a normal coffee machine. I drink Melita, Hag, Gala or Tschibo coffee brands.

Can't really make recommendations as I only get fresh beans from Whole Foods, which I think are Allegro Coffee. And you probably don't have this store or this brand where you live.
