We caught the skink

I wrote about the skink (lizard) that Vince thought he’d seen go under the fridge. Although we moved the fridge we weren’t able to find him. This afternoon I walked into the lounge and saw him on the floor.
I was able to place a bucket over him, then we slid some card underneath and transported him outside. We still don’t know how he got in but hopefully it will be a once-off. I took a photo of him in the red bucket as I thought he’d bolt once we let him go but he didn’t; instead, posing nicely for Vince.
We rang up about the caravan but it’s not quite ready for us yet. We need it this weekend as it is the State Championships (horse) Endurance Ride. I’ll be wearing my apprentice photographer’s hat and having a big feed of patience before we go taking photos.

Glad that he did not startle you I did not know that was another name for a lizard and there are plenty of them here.
Have a great time and take lots of photos too.

@JudyEv
A neighbour next door found two skinks in her soap washing powder packet and she screamed blue murder and her son had put them in there trying to keep them as pets.
I did try so hard not to laugh but then it was the fright she got that was not so funny.

@lovinangelsinstead21 When even small things turn up totally unexpectedly it can be frightening for a while.

@JudyEv I suspect that it is the house lizard that preys on mosquitoes.

@changjiangzhibin89 I feel sure it is a different species. This is ours when it is full grown.

congrats! ya jest ne'er know what those lil darlin's 're gonna do, eh? i've caught some lizards here'n the house via a box 'n some'd not get out fer nothin', me needin' to actually leave said box fer hours 'til they'd dart off. perhaps 't 'twas feelin' badly fer all the 'fforts mr. vince'd put to find him earlier, so thought it'd give him a photo op.
so hope that caravan 'tis ready to go soon, hon. can't wait fer yer photos 'n tales 'f such :)

@JudyEv makes better sense to do such with a bucket. the lil darlin's here get boxed'n then their claws seem to 'come glued to such, lol. the poor souls hang'n fer dear life, uncertain 'f their fate perhaps?
so glad ya got't back, hon. i reckon this means that mr. vince 'tis feelin' much better 'lready? sure hope so. no doubt y'all're gonna 've all put back together'n time fer yer trip. hopefully the weather'll be nice fer such 'n y'all can get some fabulous shots.

We had to upend the bucket - gently - in the end to get him to come out. We picked up the caravan soon after that and have been working on it this morning. We had to remove a few fittings so they could work on it and now we're in the middle of putting them back. It's going well so far, thanks.

Nice picture. Glad my cat wasn't there. She would have ate/killed the lizard.

Eventually those lizard's will re-appear from hiding. When I was staying in Florida lizards would scamper into the condo from outside when we opened the door. They would hide but unlike you unless they went in the artificial plant we had we never did find them.

It looks like a different one from the outdoor lizard here which is bigger.

We have a number of different lizards but I guess every country does.

The skink should be happier outside.
