In eight days time my sister and I are off on a little adventure. We're going up to Gisborne on the east coast to visit our cousins. It's a bit of an adventure for me as this will be my first time travelling and staying in a motorhome or campervan.
Gisborne is the New Zealand location that is the first in the world to welcome every new day. It became quite well-known back in 2000 when we all welcomed the new millenium.
While we're there Gisborne will be commemorating the 250th anniversary of the explorer Captain Cook arriving on our shores. I'll write about that in another post.
The picture above is looking out from the beach where we'll be parking in a motorhome camp. Don't you wish you could be there with me sharing such a view!

Quite a way. We're not going direct. I'll drive three hours to met my sister in Taupo in the middle of the North Island. Then we have an hour and a half drive across to Napier on the east coast.hen next day about a three and a half hour drive to Gisborne. If I was going directly from home it would be six hours.

@valmnz Well, you could still wake up every morning with that view even if you were homeless! Of course, you'd be sleeping on the sand with a piece of cardboard to cover up with every night, but you'd still get the same view every morning! haha

I would love to be in that place in New Zealand. I did not know that Gisborne was that the place where Captain Cook arrived.
