A First For Me

I wanted to get outside and do some mowing, trimming and such before the rain comes in tonight. Last month when I used this one push mower I have, it was acting up, so I dumped the old gas and refilled it but it still acted up so I let it be till I got a new spark plug. I got a new plug and put it in today, filler her with gas and it fired right off. I was happy woman, mowing around the back door and around the car parked there. Then it quit! I said a few cuss words. I got it to run again and headed out to mow around the front steps, that is when it happened, right behind the car. This S.O.B. blew up! Not just a blown motor that smoked, noooooooo..... it burst into flames. First reaction is to run but I couldnt, the car! So I gave it a shove and grabbed a gallon of water sitting in the shed, poured it over the burning motor, didnt do nothing. I gave it another shove out to the drive way, this time it went a good ways away from everything, just in case the gas tank exploded. I ran for the water hose, Finally I put the burning, busted in half motor, out. I mean, I have done my share of killing push mowers but I have never had one blow up and burn. I am still getting a lot of firsts even being over 50 years in age.

Gee, what a scary experience. That's why for me it is better the manual mower without a motor.

Good job. Your presence of mind worked. You're lucky the mower didn't explode.

I have never had a lawn mower do that. I used to buy electric lawn mowers and now I have a battery operated one.

@andriaperry Do you have to cut grass 12 months out of the year? We get a reprieve during the winter.
