Tick Bites Doodles

I haven’t been around much, because my husband and I found a pimple on Doodles two days ago. The pimple grew.
Doodles stopped eating.
Doodles stopped drinking.
Doodles stopped eating his treats.
Doodles stopped taking his heart medication.
Doodles vomited.
We thought it best to call our son, who is Doodles’ Daddy. He came immediately to look at Doodles’ pimple. It turned out to be a tick, which he removed immediately.
It wasn’t a deer tick, thank goodness. I’m treating the area with antiseptics. Doodles is doing much better today, but I will stay home and keep an eye on him.
By the way, my son thinks we are as blind as bats. We are.

I know the tick is not funny but I busted out laughing in the last sentence. A tick is not a pimple, I can hear him saying that.
I sure hope that is all that is making him feel bad.

You really should take Doodles to a vet about this, any tick can cause all kinds of diseases not just lyme disease.
I've seen the devastation Ehrlichiosis causes in dogs so I looked this up and found this:

@rebelann Would you believe I pulled another tick off him today? I discovered it while I was petting him outside and removed it immediately with my bare hands.
He seems to be eating and drinking more today, but all his signs look good except for that vomiting this morning. It may have been due to me picking him up after he had a drink of water.

So glad to hear Doodles will improve. Ticks can be dangerous to people and pets, alike.

Oh no,,,glad to hear Doodles is doing better today. Ticks is one of the reason among many why none of my cat's go outside. I only had one cat who was an outside out. I had one who always wanted to go out..and tried his best, but I usually got him back in pretty quickly.

Glad you have things under control. Why does your son think you are as blind as bats?

Wow yes you both must have poor eyesite for the tick to be attached two days and you not able to see it. When crawling on them they can be very hard to see but after two days of feeding on Doodles it had to be quite engorged. I’m glad he got it off. I don’t know why it effected him so bad if it doesn’t have Lyme. Ticks do carry other diseases and things though like spotted fever etc.

Yep, we’re blind as bats for sure. Our son has been the one to do all the tick discoveries on Doodles, including deer ticks on his eyelid. I know they carry so many diseases, The vet was informed. We really believe Doodles is in a decline due to his heart. I can’t bear to think of it, Would you believe I picked off another tick I discovered today while outside?

What's terrible, those ticks can be removed, but the head stays imbedded into their flesh. It causes an arthritic condition, that creates extreme pain.

@DianneN They are ruthless creatures! My neighbor Jan had a tick, but didn't know it. She ended up with a crippling disease, but I can't remember its name. It was from that tick bite!
