I miss this child.

She has two daddies. She has attitude. She was transferred from one "big kid" classroom to another because she struggled with "listening." But the classroom she was transferred to had a highly directive teacher as Head Teacher, and Teacher from Hell #1 (the one who quit), as the other main teacher. I knew it would not work. Within a couple of months, the daddies withdrew the child from the preschool. They felt the child was being abused. I got along great with her. I admired her spunk and was able to get compliance from her simply by telling her "If you do x, you will get y. If you do not do x, you will not get y." I was firm, but never angry. She asked me one day what my favorite colors were. I said (quoting a musician you may be able to name), "Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose." She made me this picture. If you look at it right, it looks something like a forest! I'm bummed that she left. But there are new kids to get to know every day.

I am so sorry, I am sure you wonder where her dad has moved her. I hope she will find a good teacher, but her father seems to take good care of her.

@LadyDuck The thought of a child being bullied by teachers mortifies me. But that was the case.

I met both of her daddies (a gay couple) and they seemed like good dudes. I hope they find a place for her with teachers who are consistent but child-centered.

Don't you hate situations like that? I bet you wonder where is she now? What's happening with her? Etc. She sounds like a wonderful little girl who needed some strict instructions but was willing to please those that took the time to understand her.

You speak the truth. We were on our way. But I don't know where she is now. The "Teacher from Hell" quit. But the other highly disciplinary teacher is coming back from a foot injury next week.

@kareng I worked in that classroom for the last couple of weeks and actually did notice that the kids seemed happier and more imaginative with both ultra-directive teachers out of the room.

There... your teen language.. "bummed"... it is hard to think of you as a grown up... DE sounds older than you.. had I not read your posts, and not seen your pictures...but interacted with you..I would have put you around 17 or 18. It is hard to believe grownups in your world use that kind of language.

"Bummed" would be my natural language for speaking with people of my own age. It's what we used back in the day. In a formal presentation, I might say "disappointed."

It must be hard when kids leave and you don't know where they've gone to.

It really is. Especially the ones who came from really disadvantaged backgrounds.

I really enjoy the work. And kids are "learning machines," so they're fun to be around.

No photo at present. I am sorry you could not teach her I think the two of you could have learned a lot from one another. The picture showed up I'd say she has great talent for modern art and I do see a forest dense with trees.

Yep. She's a bright gal. With a touch of rebelliousness. And two daddies. My kind of kid. I miss her!
