42% - What a deal

I was just reading about the latest Democratic plan for paying for the Medicare for all plan. I know there are people out there that think this is a good plan and believe me I would love something for free. That idea in itself sounds great, I mean who wouldn't want something for free.
I would think most of us should have learned that there is nothing for free. Their latest plan for FREE healthcare is a 42% sales tax. This would be a federal sales tax on anything you buy. So for a couple little examples if I bought a gallon of milk today it would cost me and average of $1.40 plus Wis tax bringing it to $1.47 but if we add the 42% tax that would bring it to $2.69. Not so much to complain about really, right?
Lets think about this, I have been thinking about buying a new car in the near future. The car I have been looking at comes in at about $23,000 now today I'm looking at about 24,150 but with the 42% I would be looking at about 33,810. Now that makes a big difference. Think about this if you spend $100 a week in groceries you would then be paying $142 a week. That would add up pretty fast.
If those numbers are enough to make you think, then what about this. Medicare often doesn't pay 100% of medical care, so getting this "Medicare for all" how much will it pay? Will you still have to pay out of pocket for some coverage? So say like most coverage you will have to pay 20% up until a set deductible, how much will that be a year that you will have to pay on top of the 42% sales tax on everything you buy?
I don't know about you but this is sounding less and less like a free good deal. Don't worry I'm sure these politicians have your best interest in mind even though they will still get their health insurance for free, that you and I pay for.

More significantly, people DO NOT want the government in charge of their health. If you think you’ve got problems with your insurance company, wait till the government takes over.
And ask any veteran who’s been in the VA system about their “wonderful” care.....

I asked myself (being a veteran) and yep I agree it can be a real nightmare. For 21 years I had blue cross due to my family not being covered under the VA and it was easier to deal with then the VA so I didn't use the VA during that time because of all the hassle of the VA.

Did no one learn a lesson from "If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor"?

@JohnRoberts No they sure didn't learn. They don't bother listening to the whole story or researching even a little bit, they just want to feel good and hearing about free sh...stuff makes them feel good.

We MUST have a healthcare insurance, we pay our insurance every month (according to how much we earn) and we have free medications and the doctors and hospitals are paid. It is more or less the same in all European countries and it works. People go to see their doctor here if they need. I know that in your country if you have an accident and you need to go to the hospital you are bankrupt.

Even the little amounts would be a lot to me such as that gallon of milk. They are nuts the Dems.

@Bensen32 Yes and I can say after having lived overseas and experiencing the national health care system, it is not as great as anyone says it is. With elderly people waiting for hip operations for months and months and also cancer patients waiting to be treated..the waiting lists are atrocious and add to that the high number of people coming in those countries taking advantage of the 'free healthcare system', well it is a disaster. The staff are exhausted.

I mean it certainly would add up and I think it would make a big difference for a lot of us. I know for me I just thought about how much I spend on food and gas a month. If this went through I would have to budget in another $260 a month just on the taxes on those two things.
I don't know what they are smoking but I would like to get some of it.

@TiarasOceanView I can't even imagine how bad it is. I mean I have seen the free clinics that are packed to the gills with people every single day, and I have experienced the VA and yea, that can be a nightmare too.

@whiteream Well we can look at it this way, you will be able to see a doctor, mostly for free, for all the stress you will be under from everything costing so much more.

People just don't understand the ramifications. Of course those who don't work and illegals make out like bandits.
