Paula Deen Baked Spaghetti

Awhile back I talked about my uncle has finally been gaining weight. This is a good thing as he was down to around 125. He is close to six feet tall. Always been a big man. The dementia has started taking a toll. I talked to the retired nurse who stays with him most of the time. She cooks good meals for him three times a day. And he is eating well. She told me how she made baked spaghetti and it was very easy. She used a Paula Deen recipe. If you are not familiar with her, she is a well known southern cook from Georgia. Not counting calories here. So I have all the things needed to make this dish. I will cut the recipe in half and give it a go later for dinner. Sharing the photo of the dish my uncle's nurse made. Looks very tasty and yes full of calories. Wish me luck as this is a new recipe. Looks fairly easy. You make spaghetti as usual, then layer it in a dish, cover it with cheese and bake!

@CarolDM You can never go wrong with massive amounts of melted cheese...one of my favorites.

It looks nice. I agree with Fredo that I´d use another type of pasta for this dish.

I started to use a wider noodle, but didn't want it to taste like lasagna. I really wanted to try baked spaghetti.

I used to make maccheroni this way, never spaghetti. It's surely good to gain weight.

@CarolDM A friend of mine liked, but I never make this kind of dishes for us, too heavy.

I've heard about this dish, but never tried it. I do like a pasta dish the evening before I go for a long bike ride

Those Paula Deen recipes seem to make huge quantities. I made half a breakfast casserole once..and even though there were two of us eating it, it lasted for over a week. Another time one of my cousins made her Thanksgiving stuffing recipes and doubled it!! They had stuffing that would have fed 40 people, no joke,,even though they did have several at the house..no more than 10!

Sounds easy enough to do. I use Paula Deen's recipe for mac and cheese but I modify it. It is still the best one I've found.
