Payton's Reward: Meet the New Household Member

My little granddaughter who is 7 is quite the animal lover. She inherited this from her mom and me, her grandmother.
My daughter usually rewards Payton for good grades on her report card. The report card she brought home last week contained all A's. This is pretty much normal for Payton. She studies hard and makes good grades. She was on the A honor roll all last year. I am happy to see that she is off to a great start this year as well. I'm very proud of her!
She asked to go tot he pet store to look around for her reward. When she saw this albino guinea pig, she knew that it would be coming home with her. This little piggie was there the last time they visited and her mom said that if he is still here when we go the next time, you can have him. So the albino guinea pig has a new home.
Payton has a black and white guinea pig already. She takes good care of her and feeds and waters daily. She also helps clean the cage.

I love animals but I just cannot do any of the rodent family.

My kids never had guinea pigs, but they did have them as classroom pets while in elementary school. That's where they got into them. I did allow hamsters. We had one that was a magician and always got out. He stayed out for over a week once before we found him.

@andriaperry Had maybe. LOL. I never saw a rat there. There was one that hubby used to see late at night. He would come out while he was watching tv, see him and then run. LOL.

aw, how sweet! so glad she's that love 'f critters'n 'lso takes great care 'f 'em, too. what a delightful lil pig! yes ma'am, i've seen a few through the years.

@crazyhorseladycx You were very lucky. I had one dog, a german shepard until third grade when we moved to Baton Rouge. We had a small yard there and my parents gave my dog away. Did not get any pets while there and then when parents bought a house with a yard, I was allowed to get a small dog. I didn't have her long before she passed on. I don't even remember where I got her from. No more pets until they bought another house in country setting. There was a subdivision across the street and a boxer moved her litter of pups to our house. She visited before dropping them so I guess she loved the attention I gave her. The owners finally found her, thanked us for the care of her and she went home to a locked up and fenced back yard :(

@kareng yes ma'am, i 'gree. though lil ms. payton takin' her responsibility to 'em serious 'tis no doubt the reasonin' :)
i 'twas fortunate my folks'd tolerance 'f all my critters. many injured 'n brought'n from the woods.

She seems to be a very fine responsible child. She gets good grades and is so caring for her pet.

Not seen an albino one but a rabbit yes.
Used to have a lovely chestnut guinea pig called Hazel.
