How to get to Sesame Street?
Sesame Street turned 50 today. Who here has never seen an episode of Sesame Street? I'm quite sure almost everyone has. I'm not going to say everyone has, because there is always someone who hasn't seen it.
I fell in love with Sesame Street when my kids were little. I love all the muppets. Though I'm going to say Grover is my favorite. Yes, I like Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Ernie and Bert, Elmo, and Snuffleupagus.
Who is your favorite character? Do you watch it with your children or grandchildren? I thought about tuning in to it today just for nostalgia's sake.
Do you know Ernie's song, Rubber Duckie made it to #16 on the Billboard chart? I know there are a few people here who might know that. I only know because it was a question on a quiz about the show.
I also like the human characters, Luis, Maria, Bob, and Gordon. I loved learning Spanish and sign language with Linda.
What did you learn that you didn't expect as you watched it with your kids and grandkids?
Happy Birthday, Sesame Street. May you have 50 more years of teaching our kids great values.
Thanks for reading. Image courtesy of Pixabay. The picture didn't have a jpg on it.

I loved Grover, he taught me a lot that it is okay to be a little quiet, a little scared of other people, but when you are alone you can create your own stories and live in your imagination. Also, I had my own super blankie that helped me when I was around people.

I was a fan of this programme a long time back in late seventies and early eighties when I was in Nigeria. Coming back to my home country I could not see it as it is not aired here.
I feel this is the best educative entertainment programme for the children. Although the programme was basically meant for children, even the elders got hooked up to this such wa the quality of entertainment in this educative programme.
although it is long time i last saw it, I could still visualise Maria, Bob, Oscar, big bird. Hope to see this programme once again.

When I had children at home, we always watched Sesame Street and I adored Maria and Grover! Then, we'd switch the channel and watch it again, on another station:)

My best memory of Sesame Street is sitting on the floor in front of the television with my then 2 yr old niece watching the Count.

I watched it many years ago with our son. His favorite was Big Bird-everybody loves Big Bird.
He had a plush Big Bird, Cookie Monster and 2 Ernies, 1 was a dress-me-Ernie which helped with buttons and Velcro, the other was just a little Ernie that he kept tucked under his arm when he was small.
