My Uncle Had a Marvelous Time

So excited once again. Yesterday evening my phone rang and it was my uncle. Again, I always think the nurse is calling when I see his number. But it was my sweet uncle. He just returned home after being taken out for dinner. His daughter-in-law and husband took him out to eat. He said we went somewhere else but I can't remember where. I told him that was ok. First time he has been out in months. I was so pleased someone finally did this. If I was not 500 miles away, he would be out all the time. A change in scenery did him so much good. I was so happy to hear him tell me about his "marvelous time out". So funny. What a word to hear from him. And he said there was "no bad news for them to share with me, and no secrets". He was very surprised they offered to take him and questioned it a bit. But it was all good. Made my day for sure. Does me so much good to hear happiness in his voice.

@DocAndersen Yes! You look marvelous. Another smile. My father used to say to me 'Nando, don't be a schnook It's not how you feel It's how you look

That was great that they did that. They should do that more often considering they are closer to him.

@CarolDM That's pathetic. They should be checking on him and taking him out all the time.

That is good he went out and had a good time even if he don’t remember where they went. I am sure if you was close by you would enjoy taking your uncle out as much as you could and I am sure he would enjoy it.

When we'd visit my Mum in the nursing home we always bundled her into the car and took her for a drive. As you say, it's them the world of good to get out of familiar surroundings for a while.
