Shortest Job, Longest Job

In our work lives, we take on many roles. We do many things. Over the years our worth ethics change. I posted something on Facebook hoping to make a bit of a trend out of it, and out of pure curiosity. It is a simple question. What was your shortest job? What was your longest job? My shortest job was Zipp's Drive Thru, a hamburger place. I worked there for 4 hours. That was it. My longest job was Coca-Cola Enterprises. I worked there for 6 1/2 years. What was your shortest job and what was your longest job? Anecdotes welcome. It will make this discussion way more fun. I will go into detail about either of these two jobs if asked. This should be fun.

Hmm, I think the shortest one was two hours as a horn teacher substitute when I was about 14. Not sure it'd count as a job though, as it was nearly too short. The second shortest was 3 days with news paper delivery. I was shown the way the first day, it seemed quite OK. Then between that and the next day it snowed so much I couldn't recognize a thing, I got totally lost and after the next day I decided I wasn't meant to get up at 3AM to get lost in snow. My longest is the one I have now, 9.5 years teaching. Might change it next summer, time will show. What did you for Coca-Cola?

9.5 years is a long time. I am not sure I would count my Zipp's job as a job either, but I did get paid, so there's that. At Coca-Cola I was a production lead man. Basically a supervisor.

@porwest Many of my collegues have been there for 30+ years, so I still feel like I started quite recently :-) Supervisor = making sure the coca-cola tastes right? I like the sound of that (and I like coca-cola, but trying to go for the zero version)

@Torunn Making sure that the people making the Coca-Cola are making it right. Or else.

I worked one day for Walmart. Something better came along. I worked the longest in Child Care at the military center. From age 17-25 . My daddy retired from the Air Force and we moved back to the United States.

My shortest job was an assembly line job. I don't know how long I worked there, maybe a week. I couldn't keep up. They tried to find a place I fit in. It didn't happen. My longest was the call center job. I worked there for 11 years.

Worked for a real estate developer in his accounting office of the party center that he owned for one day. There wasn't enough for me to do; and we had to clean his office at the end of the day. The longest job was an Accounting Office Manager for a nursery supply retail/wholesale operation (tree supplies, not babies) that lasted 15 years.

You ran the gamut. The job I have now may well turn out to be my longest run eventually. We shall see. I have been there currently for 5 years and 2 months.

The funny thing about government jobs is that once people get into them, they tend not to leave them. Traditionally the benefits are too good to pass up. Thanks for sharing.

My first job was a laborer in a warehouse where we carried small drums for loading onto a truck. I lasted only 4 days because I was a temp there.

Shortest job - babysitter. I worked 2 days I think and then the mom lost her job; so I lost mine. Longest; working in the hospital cafeteria.
