Have you ever been thumbless?

I still have both my thumbs, but one has trigger finger, or rather trigger thumb.
It started hurting a week or so ago and made a clicking sound when I bent it. I went to my Rheumatologist yesterday and he gave me an injection into the base of my thumb and palm. It didn't hurt as bad as I thought it might.
I have to try not to use it for a couple of days. As it I could.
Do you have any idea how often we use our thumbs? Some things are impossible to do. Like anything that needs to be squeezed.
I can use a couple of fingers to help out, but thankfully my husband is here to help. I'm just praying this cortisone injection works without needing a second one. Or surgery.
I had a different kind of surgery on that same thumb years ago. Of course, I had a splint type of thing and couldn't use that hand at all for a few weeks.
Anyway, I have a new appreciation for God giving us thumbs.

I've found that out! I could barely sign my name even before I got the shot. I'm trying to hold a fork in my left hand.

Thanks. My thumb seems to be improving after the injection, hoping I won't need another one. What caused your hand to be like that? Did it take long to heal?

Thanks. It's one of those body parts we don't really appreciate.

I guess thumbs and big toes are the parts we never think about, but really do need.

Thanks, Linda. What kind of problems did you have with your hands? I've gotten injections in my arms and legs in the past for tendinitis and had surgery on this same hand because of arthritis. Sure hope this shot works.

@1creekgirl I had problems with my wrist. My husband has had shots in his thumb and wrist. I've also had shots in my knees, back and hip.
