In the UK, all passengers are required to wear seat belts, whether in the front or the rear. This is sensible, since, if one is in a collision and the rear passengers are unrestrained, the driver and the front passenger(s) - not to mention the rear passengers themselves - could be severely injured by people in the rear seats flying forward.

Here everyone has to wear a seat belt unless the car is very old. If the car is from 1969 or older we are allowed to drive without seat belts (front seats included)

@youless Here many old cars end that way, too, but sometimes we see very old cars in the street. The very old ones have black licence plates instead of white licence plates, but there aren't many of them.

That's a good law. Here the mandatory requirement is only for the front passenger and driver but I always tell my son to put his seatbelt on even though he's seated at the back seat even though we don't have such law.

Oh I am not sure if you have to here but I believe probably so.
And I believe it may help if in an accident.

Cars here have seat belts for the back passengers but I think no one is using that.
