Update on Where I've Been

Good morning all. I didn't mean to disappear but first things come first. My mom was a bit disoriented and took a fall Sunday evening and ended up with a big knot that opened up. So we headed to the ER to check things out.
It was a good thing we did because she had some bleeding on her brain. She also required 3 stitches to close up the wound. She was admitted to ICU around 2 am. The emergency room was packed and we had to wait for a room in ER. They were lining people up in the hallway.
She got bumped up because they sent her for a CT scan first. By the time she got in a room her blood pressure was sky high, so we had to get that treated and blood clotting drug to stop bleeding. She was then sent to ICU.
We had another wait for a room in ICU. We finally got her settled around 2:30 am. Knowing that she would be sleeping, I decided to go home.
The next day the bleeding was till happening so she stayed in ICU. Then the following morning her CT scan showed the bleeding had stopped. She was ready to go to a regular room. As the story goes, we had to wait for a room to be available in the cardiac unit.
We got her settled in and when the new shift came on, they decided to move her down in front of the nurses station because of her dementia. The nurse on duty when she moved did zippo and just wanted to get off work. I was a bit ticked off. She stayed on her cell phone constantly.
So I've been spending my time at the hospital. We are waiting to see what her doctor is going to do about her Afib now. Otherwise, she is ready to come home.

That is so stressful. I'm sorry you and your family had to deal with all of this. Hopefully everything settles down soon and your Mom makes a full recovery.
I'm also sorry about Nurse Zippo. They seem to pop up in most hospitals.
By the way, I'm glad to see you back.

@kareng Some people are most certainly in the wrong profession. I'm happy to hear that your mom was discharged.

Glad she is doing good now. That would be scary. Good nurses like dementia patients close so they can watch them closer. But she should have got off her phone unless it had to do with her work. I know our hospital uses them now for that.

Oh! That sounds terrible. Sorry you had to go so much of trouble. Wishing a speedy recovery for your mom.
That nurse attitude is not appreciated at all. Being on phone while she is on duty is not professional.

@kareng Wishing your mom a speedy recovery.
You could have politely pointed that out to her. But anyway all well now.

@arunima25 I don't think it would have done any good. She had "that" attitude written all over her. Karma will get her.
