This time of year many customers come in and drop off treats for the staff. There is no shortage of sweets at the workplace. There is always a variety to choose from. The young guys in the office downstairs love it. Seems they can eat and eat and never get their fill. I am not much of a sweet eater, thankfully, but I do have a chocolate every now and again. Seems this time of year no matter where you go there is lots of treats. I don't do a lot of Christmas baking myself but I remember my mom use to be busy baking the weeks leading up to the holidays. Do you do any Christmas baking? What is your favorite treat this time of year?

I used to do a lot more baking when my children were growing up than I do now. I would start weeks ahead and have tins filled with all sorts of cookies. Next week I'll do some baking but only a few traditional ones that my family enjoy and feel it wouldn't be Christmas without. I remember working and having all those treats come in from customers.

I do a little candy making. Very little baking. Most things are made on the stove like fudge.

Years ago I baked a lot and often took sweets to work, especially during the holidays. Now if I bake something, it has to be gluten free for my husband, but both of us are trying to cut back anyway.

I can imagine the guys loving the Christmas goodies. My Mum used to bake a lot around Christmas time but I don't. Even if I did, it would simply never get eaten.

My fiance is a diabetic so I don't cook sweets because he would want to eat them.

I don’t bake. However, I do make myself readily available as a “test taster.”

I have always done some Christmas baking. Different sweets have been requested different years. I remember Christmas 2008, my Dad was in the hospital and was going to be discharged for the holiday, but he knew that my mother hadn't had time to make him his favorite date squares. So, he asked me to make them. I rose to the occasion, and was surprised when all of my family complimented me on them. Of course the best was that which my Dad fed to me, I loved that compliment. I knew it was his last Christmas, but it was never discussed, it left a sweet memory.
