Cell Phone Nurse - Part 2

I posted this morning about how disgusted I was with this one nurse my mom had on both Monday evening and Friday during her hospital stay. I will start off by praising the Lord that I did not have to deal with her any other days of the week. First she was too tuned in to her cell phone to order my mom a dinner plate. There is no telling what else she did not do in checking my mom into the Heart Floor before she got off work. Then on Friday she was on duty when my mother was discharged. She went over all the paperwork with me, I signed it and POOF. She disappears. We called for Aid to help get my mom dressed and waited for wheelchair. I was patient and at 30 minute mark started looking for Cell Phone Nurse. She forgot! Now fast forward to this morning (Saturday morning). My mom came home last night, ate dinner and went to bed. She was tired. This morning she got up and we all ate breakfast. I turned the television on for her to watch and I told her I'd be right back to cut off her hospital bracelet. I went to get the scissors. She held out her arm and I raised her sleeve up. What do I see??? Her IV! Cell Phone Nurse also left the IV in her arm. I was livid and cooled off. I waited until I had calmed down and I messaged @AndriaPerry to ask if I was doing this right. All I can say is it was a good thing that I attended to 3 out of 4 of my grandchildren's births and have sat with family members in the hospital many times. I got the IV out without any problems. The hardest part was the tape because it really stuck and my mother's skin is very thin. She said I didn't hurt her at all though and that made me feel better. So Monday I'll be calling the hospital and giving Cell Phone Nurse's supervisor a piece of my mind. Photo Credit: Pixabay

They are not hard to pull out. I would be calling and reporting her for sure after that one.

I will be calling. I will also be sure to fill out the questionnaire they send in the mail and will also be writing a letter and sending it in.

@kareng She needs fired. If it had just been the phone I would have been mad but a little more patient. But she failed to do things when signing your mom out that should have been done. Also remember that you can request a different nurse if you would get her or one like her again. She is a danger to the patients.

Did you take a photo before removing it? I would send the photo to the hospital to let them know how bad that nurse is.

@kareng You should, she is doing nothing good, imagine if someone does not notice soon, this could be dangerous.

That nurse should not be a nurse. Who knows what other horrors she is up to??

That is totally irresponsible! I would be livid too. I'm thankful I've never had a nurse like that. I hope her supervisor has a few choice words for her and two of them in my book anyway, would be, You're Fired.

That would be best but there is no guarantee. I just pray nobody else in my family gets her as a nurse in the future and doesn't know her record.

@kareng Yes, it would be best. If not, I hope she is disciplined and her phone taken away during work time.

That is really, really bad. I'm surprised it didn't annoy your mother being left in like that.

With her state of mind, she didn't even notice. She had long sleeves on the day she discharged so it wasn't in clear view. However, a nurse should have that in her list of discharge duties.

i hope ya took a pic'n documented such well, hon. ya do know that'cha can ferbid any staff from tendin' yer momma 'r anyone fer that matter? yup, 've done such many times. such behaviors 're usually nipped'n the bud, too. if'n she 'twas that scatter brained with yer momma, i'm purty certain her other patients 'lso received such shoddy care. fer myself? i'd bypass her supervisor'n go straight to administration.

I didn't have to deal with her long on Monday. Her shift was ending. But when someone tells you they are going to call and order a dinner plate, you assume they will follow through. She wasn't back on duty until Friday and vanished after doing the paperwork. It wasn't time for her to get off so she must have gone into hiding somewhere.
