My Day Today So Far

Today is a mixed emotions day for me. It marks 4 weeks since our precious Doodles the cat has passed away. I’m still mourning his loss and crying. I know time heals all and every day is a bit better. I still have two wonderful granddoggies, whom I love with all my heart. They were our older son’s first babies before my grandchildren came along. I recently returned from my first long walk, since our arrival in Florida. It was getting warm, so I’m glad I walked early. I’m in the middle of doing two loads of laundry. My hubs is on his way to a highly recommended dentist. His dentist in Connecticut found a problem during a routine cleaning, but there was no time to take care of it up north. Afterwards, he will visit his best childhood friend, so I’m on my own today until hubs returns. I may mourn some more or go for a bike ride along the ocean. I think the latter will be better for me.

I appreciate that you are still in mourning for Doodles as they do become such integral family members. However!!! It's 3:53pm here, it's dark, it's cold and it's raining. I'm finding it difficult to empathise with someone who had to go for a walk early because of the heat and who is considering an afternoon bike ride by the ocean!!!!!!

Grief comes in waves and it's never easy mourning the loss of a pet. Enjoy your bike ride along the ocean and think of all the good times you had with Doodles.

Yes, each day gets easier (talking from experiencing loss recently) I like to think about the person, or animal, in no more pain and being free and happy.

@LindaOHio Yes, they are our older son’s dogs. One is a purebred Shiba, and the other is a rescue Shiba mix.

My dentist found a small problem during tooth cleaning last Saturday. I go to see him next week to check if it is really a small cavity so that he can fix it. Those dogs are beautiful.

@DianneN We had dentists and doctors in both places when we still lived in Monte Carlo. It is better just in case of emergencies. IF there is a cavity it must be really small, I do not even feel pain eating on that tooth.

@LadyDuck Yes, it’s very important especially in case of emergency. It’s still best to get that cavity filled before it gets larger and results in costly damage.

I can’t stand dentists, but they do save our smiles. My husband’s new dentist suggested something else to save his tooth and will work on it tomorrow. I’m going with him to his appointment tomorrow, and will make an appointment for a cleaning in March. I already discussed it with my dentist up north. It makes sense that we have dentists and doctors in both places now. Thank you! The doggies are so well loved by the family. They are so good and protective of the kids, too.

@DianneN I've got two cats, one-year-old brother and sister. My neighbours gave them to me. The breed is British Shorthair. They are extremely affectionate. I play with them and stroke them, but I'd never hug and kiss them.

Maybe do a bit of both..My sister's kitty is now very sick and she is broken up about it. However, she has a ray of hope since the cat's lymphoma test came back negative..she still has bad kidneys though..and just can't seem to keep weight on. As long as she doesn't appear to be suffering, sis is going to do whatever she can. She has the resources for specialists and what not...so hopefully Cougar can have a bit more time..

@DianneN It is very fresh in your mind about losing Doodles. You will always remember Doodles. He was very special to you and your family. How is your son doing? So, I take it those are your older son's dogs in the picture. They look very sweet. It is nice to take a walk before it gets hot out. I am hoping I can walk on Shabbat morning. I will miss those walks when the weather in winter will not allow me to. Then I will have to wait till nice weather to return. My condolences for your husband having to do to the dentist. Going for a bike ride along the ocean sounds good and you can reflect there too.

Thank you. Our son is doing much better than he did when he lost his other cat. He told us that he can’t understand why, since he loved Doodles, too. Yes, those dogs belong to my older son. They are very loving, but getting old now. I was so out of shape that I didn’t make it over the bridge to the beach. I intend to get back into shape soon. Walking is so good to do. Perhaps you can walk on milder days.

@DianneN That is a good question he asked but I guess because animals do not live forever so far. They look like sweet dogs in the picture. I do not remember you mentioning them before. You have plenty of time to get yourself back in shape. I really want to walk but in winter I do not know when the rain will come or not. If Shabbat does not have rain and is ok I will take a walk. You have a good point on taking walks on milder days.
