Faith in God makes you happy. Lack of faith in God makes you unhappy. It's really all that simple.

It is hard to shift a rock like this without at least a little help from a friend. I had that help today.

I was at church today, and I was listening to the reading, which said, in effect, that, "happy are those who have faith in God." The actual verse was this one: It was from Saint Matthew's gospel, chapter 11, verse 6. "Happy is the man who does not lose faith in me." This was Jesus talking to some of John the Baptist's disciples, when John had appeared to lose his faith in him, wondering if Jesus was really the promised Messiah, or not. John had sent them, his disciples, to Jesus to ask him if he was indeed this Messiah, or not. This showed me why I am unhappy. Unhappy are those with little faith in God follows from that reading. It has always felt to me like that I have a large stone in my mind, which is squashing, or crushing, my faith and my heart, with itself. But, l sort of feel in a way, that it's really a part of me, so l am reluctant to get rid of it, or to let it go. I think that I would lose part of myself then too. I want to keep the rock, but also keep my full faith too. In a relatively quiet moment, as the collection was being taken up, I asked Jesus Christ what is it that I could do about this rock in my mind, crushing my faith to pieces. Jesus said to me that instead of my faith being crushed to pieces by the rock, he will crush the rock into pieces, and turn the rock into gravel, and then make for me a path for me, between my heart and mind, linking the two, instead of my having the connection blocked by this large rock anymore. I was really pleased with his answer, and I found some happiness from his answer, immediately so. My faith increased just from this experience with him in my church today too. Glad you're finding your faith again. hope it keeps you happy. I do wonder why they say those that don't have faith are unhappy? I mean I don't and I'm a pretty happy person, I suppose like most other people I have my days when I could be happier.

Each of us has to make up our own minds about whether we are happy, or not. Only we, ourselves, can know this for certain about ourselves. I was unhappy. For me, this helped me to be happy. It was true for me, but I can never know if it is also true for others too. I just put it out there to share this experience of mine with others. Those who want to increase their faith, might be helped by my experience too. For me, I cannot be fully happy without a belief in God, and so knowing that there is a greater meaning to my life, than just my existence here in this body.

@Bensen32 Yeh, it sort of soothes my soul, gives me a feeling of security, and helps me to think that I have someone looking after my soul here, helping to grow it, and to keep redirecting it back onto its purpose for being here, rather than my getting lost in day to day tasks. I might be totally delusional, but if it makes me happy, or helps me to be happy, so what, eh?

@innertalks Oh for sure some people feel better if they believe in their god. I'm happy that you are finding happiness in your faith.

Although I am believer in God, I don't fully agree with your statement. I have seen lot of people non believers but happy as they perform all their duties as a human being selflessly and diligently.

@innertalks Nice thoughts. Many a times not practical. Most of the times people seek God not for happiness but to achieve something or for fear of something. Serving people in need is the greatest happiness one can get in life.

Happiness, to me, is relative. For me, being selfless, helping others, would not make me as happy, as I want to be. For me, I want to be totally happy, blissfully happy, bubbling over with happiness, at all times. I want this happiness to be linked to something deeper than just human experiences. I want to connect to the source of happiness, to God, if he exists. Only in this way, could I be as happy,as I want to be, and nothing else will satisfy me in this. Otherwise, I would remain unhappy, not totally happy, or fulfilled by anything else, other than total happiness.

@msdivkar Serving people with love is also the greatest way to love, and to experience that love too. Happiness sits in us as God created it to be, but until we open its gift though, it remains dormantly inactive, and the gift is opened by serving others altruistically lovingly, and with happy feelings of connective peace, in doing so, not of any thought of self-gain.

God is my greatest source of happiness. There are many things that make me happy but without God, the total sum of them is equal to nothing.

Thanks Felix. That's exactly where I am coming from in this article discussion piece too. Without God, all happiness has no real shine to it for me, as you said, the total sum of all other happiness's for me is equal to nothing for me too.

I feel happy like I found two new fruits on my cucumber plant, and that makes me feel grateful...so faith per se is never lost. I always accept the presence of god. Just that it is hard for me to accept everything there is in scriptures. I am also not ritualistic. I think they are childish.

It's good if a degree of faith is never lost. We see the plant and are happy to see the fruits on it. But to me, the knowledge of anything is not the happiness that's behind it, it is the newness of that new knowledge in you, giving you a greater light, that brings the happiness. Embracing truth embraces what's behind that truth too, God. The happiness from God works in the same way as this happiness obtained from acquiring new knowledge does, as when we feel his love in us, it gives us, or creates in us, a greater happiness in us then too.

Yes, it would be hard to shift a rock like that without any help to do so. Faith can act as a lever to our lives too, I would say, helping us to move obstacles away.

Yes, and I would say that nothing else could ever make us that happy and strong as our trust and faith in God can.
