The night is over again. I have been to the Asian supermarket, a 20 minutes drive from where I live. I bought the ingredients needed for my Christmas and New Year celebration. There were not many customers there this afternoon. It was relaxing to look for the food that I want. I have bought wilted frozen banana leaves, frozen bitter gourd, a small sack of basmati rice, soybeans sprouts, monggo beans, lumpia wrapper, rice flour, canned jackfruit, black and white glutinous rice and Sinigang soup mix. I hope I have not forgotten anything. Have you been to an Asian supermarket? I have decided now to make Bibingka cake for Christmas. I have to check online on how to make it as I have not made it before. Goodnight. See you tomorrow in your discussion. I have found this video online. I hope it is good to try.
How to make Special Bibingka? Here's what you'll need: 1 and a half cup glutinous rice four 1/2 cup rice flour 1 and a half tbsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 2...

In California, there are lots of Asian supermarket, mostly Chinese products. But there are also Filipino stores there that sells Philippine favorites like the dried fish and shrimp paste.

I think the owner of our huge Asian supermarket is Vietnamese but we they sell plenty of imported Asian products which includes the Filipino products. We have dried fish and bagoong too but I am scared to buy because I easily get itchy face eating those food. I am allergic to molds and mites. Thank you @Alexandoy.

I have shopped in Asian markets, but only in Asia and not for food. I don't cook Asian food, but eat it in restaurants. Your bibingka looks great!

I see @DianneN. That is not my bibingka. I have not made them, yet. That is the one I have found on youtube. I don´t follow this recipe because it is not the local one that I get used to eating when I am home in the Philippines. I like the bibingka without cheese and boiled eggs. Thanks.

Have you eaten bibingka with cheese and boiled eggs? I have not. I love the simple local bibingka and that is what I am going to bake. Thanks @JustBhem

@thelme55 Yes, I used to buy them somewhere here. The toppings have cheese abd salted egg. It’s a perfect combo.

I am glad about that, too @renicemae. Yes, it is expensive compared to the prices in Pinas but still affordable here. We have no choice, haven´t we?

Nope I have never been to one. I do know where one is though. Mostly anything I need I can get at Walmart or Wegmans as far as Asian food goes.
