Back on line and an international film festival

I feel as though I’ve been missing a limb. We were without internet for almost 24 hours and I didn’t know what to do with myself! All those lovely posts I couldn’t read, all the comments I couldn’t make – it was awful.
In the end, I had to go and do housework, that’s how bad the situation became! Something is gobbling up our data. Normally we have heaps but for some reason, we ran out. So now the hunt is on to try to find out what the problem is. But, for the moment, I’m online again and feel much better. I hope you’re all having a great day too.
We had to go to the city yesterday too and picked up our mail at the post office box on the way home. The International Film Festival will be on again in January and this time all twelve films look really interesting. Often there is something incredibly violent or way-out that we don’t bother going to.
One of the films this year is ‘The Ideal Palace’. A postman built a ‘palace’ from stones he gathered as he walked the countryside delivering mail. We visited his place when we were in France and the photo is from there. It’s not the prettiest place I’ve ever been too but you have to admire his perseverance.

Today we went to see an extraordinary creation: Ferdinand Cheval’s Ideal Palace. Cheval was a postman who, in April 1879 and at the age of 43, stumbled up on a...

I think that is amazing and built from stones picked up along the way. How incredibly ingenious.

That is a pretty neat palace he built from stones! When I first saw the photo, I thought it to be a giant sandcastle. I thought, 'Whoa, how'd they get all that sand to stay together like that?' haha
Thanks for sharing the photo and the backstory. I hope you are able to successfully locate the cause of your 'data gobbling' and get it straightened out. We miss you when you're not on the internet!

@JudyEv Still haven't been able to figure out what gobbled up all your data?

@moffittjc Not really but now Vince is shutting the lid of his Mac if he isn't actually using it. We're wondering if it is continually saving data to backup files or to a cloud or something. It has stopped using so much but we're not certain what we're doing differently apart from closing the lid.

His perseverance is really admirable and it must be a worth place to visit. Is it the same palace in picture Judy? It's beautiful.
Hope you find the cause behind your Internet issue and get it fixed in time.

@JudyEv But it is a splendid work done by a postman and that too from stones collected from countryside. He really did put a lot of time and effort.
Good that your issue is fixed

@JudyEv i like the free smartphone application wifiman (you don't need the features of the paid version) it will tell you what your actual performance is and all the devices on your wifi.
then go to the discover tab and see what devices are connected. Turn them all off. Watch your performance and see.
that tells you if it is your problem, or your provider's problem!

We had an Outage here that lasted about 8 hours. Truly annoying..and since I practically live online it was dreadful. Anyway, glad you are back!

Perseverance spells success. The palace from stones shows what miracle a person who has strong wills will work.

Yesterday afternoon our internet was also down. The provider called to say they were doing repairs for 24 hours. Ouch, that's too long. Fortunately the internet came back after just a little over 5 hours.

We are online again now and I think we might have sorted out the problem. You do miss it if you can't use it.

I think its awesome!
Someone is using your internet, like a hot spot. If you have wifi device check it, mine has to have a password to access.

We do have a password and there is no-one close enough to log into our wifi. We think it might be a backup system which more or less runs continually.

You don't realise how much you depend on it until you don't have it.
