So says the headline on my This Day in History fun facts page.
In 1955 a Colorado newspaper gave children Santa's phone number at the North Pole. However, the number was one digit off and went to the red phone at NORAD - North American Aerospace Defense Command. Colonel Harry Shoup made a quick adjustment with his staff and told them to give the children what they wanted - Santa's current location. And a tradition was born. Today you can track Santa's journey around the world.
Has Santa visited your home yet? Currently, Santa is heading for Port aux Francais. By the time you read this, he will have arrived and left. As I followed him, he's now on his way to Madagascar.
It's fun learning how traditions are born. Thanks for reading.
