Do you use door-stops?

On the last day with our friends, we went to lunch at a winery near to where we were staying. We had a delicious meal. I chose salt and pepper squid which was delicious and not the least bit chewing. They had some nice artwork around the walls too, some of which I’ll share with you later. Another thing that I loved was the cast iron kangaroo door stops that were propping open the doors. Don’t you think it’s cute? We don’t use door-stops in our house. We don’t really need them. There are some ingenious door-stops available though. Have you seen any unusual ones? Anything can be used really as long as it’s heavy enough to prop open a door.

We don’t have door stops, we simply slam the door. Lol

Sometimes the draught slams the door, that's for sure. Sometimes it seems to shake the whole house.

I'm glad you enjoyed your meal. I too love squid when it's done right. And no, we don't use door-stops in our house.

Squid can be very tough if it isn't cooked properly.

I use the plastic ones for when it gets windy, I need it. Haven't seen any unusual doorstops lately. This one of the kangaroo is very nice!

Are the plastic ones heavy enough or are they a wedge-shape?

I do not, necessarily. But I like yours. As for the quid, glad to hear it was good and not chewy. I think every time I have had squid, if I wanted to know what a tire might be like to eat...that is the first thing that would come to mind.

@porwest My experience is that it's often chewy but sometimes really easy to eat.

@JudyEv It must. I have never cooked it. Only ever had it in a restaurant. And it's always chewy and rubbery.

That is adorable. We have one of a white cat with purple and green flowers in our condo. We need it to keep our bedroom door from blowing closed when we open the windows facing the water. Those sea breezes can sometimes blow me across the room. I love squid, especially squid ink.

In France, we had jet black bread and apparently the colour came from squid ink. Pardon my ignorance but how do you have squid ink? Do you eat it? Drink it? Or are you just joking?

@JudyEv It’s mostly used in pasta dishes and even used to make squid ink pasta. It has a subtle flavor and we always order it when we see it on a menu. However, it’s not something we see often.

@judyev We have a cat doorstop, and when I went to photograph it to post in reply to your kangaroo I couldn’t find it. I’m glad you had good squid. I like good squid, but often it’s like trying to chew on a mouthful of elastic bands.

Yes I do use door stops because I like to keep my windows open as much as possible and this causes a draught that makes the doors slam and it makes me jump.
