Hi everyone! I hope you are all getting back into the swing of things after the holidays. We are adjusting here. Hubby is back to work and already complaining about having to get up early in the mornings, having to go to work, etc. I think this is only going to get worse as he gets closer and closer to his retirement date. He has put in for February 15, 2020 and this should work out. He has his paperwork all turned in to both retirement and his HR department. It's been a quiet day here. I ran to town to the post office to mail Ebay package and stopped to pay water bill and pick up at the drug store. It is beautiful outside (warm and blue skies) and I am heading out there to do some work in the chicken coops and the yard for about an hour before I need to get dinner on. How is your Monday going? Do you have nice weather? Photo Credit: Pixabay, public domain

Where oh where are you? We have had a few signs of spring and I posted on that last week, but we are still having nights with lows in the 30's. Hopefully, those will end soon!

@kareng I live in Oklahoma. At night it gets about 38 degrees, but today it was 65 degrees during the day and it felt like a breezy 70.

It does get harder when it is that close. If he hasnt get the social security signed up now to if he is eligible. A friend of mine had a 2 month wait for her first check.

He will have up to a two month wait for his retirement check, but will get a check for his unused vacation time within two weeks. That will go into savings and used for the house in Louisiana. I'm ready to find a camp and winter hangout! I found a nice place yesterday with a little over ten acres with pond, barn, chicken coop, wildlife and fruit trees on property that he actually liked too. It's not far from where we are now so will be able to keep eye on this place too until we decide to sell it or whatever.

@wolfgirl569 Mine wants a small cabin in the swamp. I'm NOT living in the swamp!!! My aunt had a she-shed before she sold her property. She has been into crafts for years and she got this to do her wreaths in. It was large enough to move around in, store all her materials and two workbenches!

@kareng It can be hard to find a place that both like sometimes Myy hubby would be happy in a one room cabin. Of course if we move someplace warmer then I could have a craft barn outside.

Yikes on the wind. We only had a slight wind yesterday. Today it is going to be cooler but staying in low 60's so I will probably get outside for a little while anyway.

@crazyhorseladycx Oh yeah, we have to make good use of them when we get them. I think folks with outdoor animals use those days wisely!

Wow, not long to go now till your husband hits retirement. Does he have lots planned to fill in the extra hours he'll have?

@JudyEv These will all take some time too. We still have the big tree down on fence row and property lines all need cleaning up. New outdoor faucet needs installing, etc.

@kareng We had a lot of maintenance jobs on our property too when Vince first retired. Gradually we got them all under control but it took a while.

I would agree to that. I just came inside from working in the chicken coops and shoveling poop! I'm actually sweating!

@Alexandoy Yep! I alternate fertilizer, filling in low spots in the coops and filling in holes in the yard. Lucky I have plenty of it with 20+ chickens. lol

Today was a quiet day and I'm so glad that life is back to normal. Does your husband have mixed emotions about retiring or is he looking forward to it?

@kareng it's only a few more weeks which we know will fly by but if he's ready to go now he's probably going to think retirement day can't get here fast enough.
