I am so totally curious and it's all JJ's fault............

A house I thought looked cool back in the day when I still roamed the county to take pictures

Yes it is. I saw a post by JJ about people following dead people. So I started thinking that I've been responding to a lot of really old posts lately so I'm actually helping some dead people earn more money. Now for the real question ..... are you ready for it?? What does Paypal do with the money that dead people earn?

I have never thought of that. I'll bet that JJ has though, we'll have to wait and see if he responds.

If he's not too busy he might. He does have to cater to Scar after all.

Hmmm good question! I suppose they close accounts if there hasnt been activity in them for a year or so..who knows? I responded to one a few days ago that was from 2008. I am sure that person has long ago left mylot.

I've been finding and commenting on responses posted in 2006, 2007 and so on. It's neat reading about what people were up to back then.

Exactly @DianneN Plus, for those like me who'd even know they had a paypal account or were on Mylot. I've tried telling my friends about all that I do online but they think I'm kidding.

@rebelann The only ones who know I do things online are hubs, my younger son, and my brother. Hubs wants me off. My son wants me off. And my brother thinks it’s a great little hobby for me.

Ohhh, I didn't even think of that. Surely there must be a lot of accounts at PayPal that could potentially be sitting there as the person passed on - and they haven't been notified.

That's what I was thinking @much2say My paypal is connected to my bank account so those who know which bank I am with will know to tell them at least.

Not sure. But I do know HUBPages allows writers to be able to send earnings to a designated person. I'm not sure how it's done. But I know HUBPages uses PayPal to pay me.

I wonder how that works. So many lotters are elderly and simply disappear and no one seems to know what happened to them.

I never thought about that. I did think once about people who are still alive but haven't been on here for a long time, if they are earning anything.

I'm not sure about that. I know that if I respond to a post and the poster comments on my response then we both earn a fraction of a penny.

I wonder how banks deal with dormant accounts. One credit union I once belonged to took what little I had in my account to pay fees because I'd forgotten I had the account.

All you have to do is give paypal the order that upon your passing your son should inherit the account. I think that's how they do that ..... oh good grief, how is Ally gonna access her account when I'm gone?

You're right @JudyEv I should order paypal to use my funds, if there are any, to purchase dog food and send it to her.

@rebelann Thanks for that information. I didn't know that. And poor Ally! You'll have to make other arrangements.

That's an interesting question. I think I read somewhere that after a certain amount of time MyLot simply expires the balance even if the person is alive but simply has been inactive for a long period of time. Not sure what the ansewer is, although I am sure JJ knows.

@rebelann I think they do. I can't remember where I read it, but I thought that at some point MyLot confiscates the money from inactive accounts. @myklj999 any thoughts?

It would be a blessing to pass and still bring in revenue even if it were pennies on the dollars. When my mother passed she was neck deep in debt.
