A late Christmas gift

On our way home after our few days away at New Year, we picked up a late Christmas gift from our son and daughter-in-law in Ireland. You can see them in the photo – two Christmas baubles to hang on the tree we didn’t have this year. Lol
They are really beautiful and they’re staying in the china cabinet for a while so we can enjoy them. The paper that came with them says the design is pencilled on the outside of the ball then painted on with tiny brushes from the inside which, if it’s true, and I’m sure it is, is pretty clever.
One has pink and grey galahs on it and the other a fairy wren. I suggested Christmas ornaments as postage is so expensive if you’re sending overseas. These were bought and posted from somewhere in Australia which saves a lot of money.

what a lovely gift 'ndeed! don't blame ya fer keepin' those out to be 'njoyed 'n 'dmired. can't imagine the steady hands that painted such beauties!
i hear ya'n postage. 'tis ridiculous here'n the u.s. jest to send a baby quilt that weighs less'n 2 pounds. i nearly fainted o'er the cost.

@crazyhorseladycx There seems no rhyme or reason to it sometimes.

That's pretty good to be for the tree next Christmas.

@JudyEv with what happened to the forest there, perhaps there will be no live Christmas tree next year.

I had suggested Christmas tree ornaments but other than that I didn't know what to expect.

They are very lovely, I think they would do well as house decoration even if it's not for Christmas.
