Thank Goodness for Surge Protectors

Just heard a huge clap of thunder and a boom sound with lightning. I heard something pop inside. I thought, oh no, my computer. Checked the circuit breaker box and there was one tripped. I flipped the switch and now all is good.
I also have several of these surge protectors just for weather like this. Everything is safe now. Still sheets of rain and gusty wind coming through. Now more thunder, but hopefully it will pass soon.
Thank goodness the power is still on as well. Many trees down in the area but safe here for now.

Any reports of tornados touching down in your immediate area?

@CarolDM It's just amazing someone thought a way to do that in the first place.

We also use surge protector on all our appliances. It's better to be safe than sorry.

I have a couple of surge protectors too. I could use one for the whole house though. I got a bit worried with all the wind last night, I thought it might bring down some trees.

Our power popped on and off all day yesterday. It never totally went out.

so glad y'ave those, hon. i'm thankful they're cheap'n price, lol. well, compared to the 'olden days' anyhow. when we've storms, i jest unplug. saturday here 'twas a day 'f intermittent power blips due to the winds i reckon. thankfully there'd be no mass 'f native trees 'round these parts to fear, jest those we've planted. 'nly one 'tis near a power line.
hopefully y'ave clear skies today.

i remember when we first started using them (surge protectors) I had a neighbor with a brand new Macintosh that blew everything because no surge protector. insurance only pays part of computer costs!

@DocAndersen I know that from a friend whose house burned down for that very reason.

@CarolDM in fact it does. Plugging them into each other increases fire risk as well I just learned that from a fire here in Maryland/
