A problem solved

We support a young boy in Nepal and pay his school fees. To transfer money through the banks is very expensive. A month or so ago, we gave money to a young friend who was going to Nepal as a volunteer. Unfortunately, she was travelling on her own and had an anxiety attack at the airport prior to leaving and didn’t board the plane. This was a great shame for her, of course, but it also meant our money didn’t get there.
As luck happens, we are now going to Nepal ourselves and will be able to take the money to the family. We also contacted the young girl to see if she is still wants to go, as she could come with us, but her university course is due to start. Her parents are calling in today to return our money and soon I’ll need to go and make cheese scones for our morning tea.
Isn’t it funny how some problems almost solve themselves?
Photo is one of Vince’s of bikes we donated to a school in Lumbini. These will enable children living more than 5 miles from their school to ride to school rather than walk.

@judyev Getting money to a project or person in other countries is fraught with difficulty and expense. I support a rural hospital in Malawi and money gets "re-directed" on its way there. But there is a group of people here who know the hospital well including a doctor who worked there and they know what they're doing and they know how best to spend the money so a large number of us are able to send £4000 a month and we are confident that it goes where it is intended. I had surgery there when I was 8.

We gave the money to our young friend as we had no plans to go to Nepal but she was going. This is the money she has returned. In the end, she wasn't able to go but now we are going to the wedding so we can take the money ourselves.

Aww that's sad the poor girl had an anxiety attack and couldn't go
That's awesome you and Vince will be able to go yourselves and give them the money in person.
With the bikes the kids will be able to get to and from school so much faster.

We had a lot of our local community contribute to the funds for the bikes. I thought it was a very practical way of helping.
