The timing was great

They cancelled school yesterday and to me the timing was terrific, because I have been fighting a virus all week. I was able to stay home and not feel guilty about them needing a substitute, as no one was at school. Yesterday I slept almost all day. I believe it has helped though I am not 100% yet. I may go sleep some more later. Hubby will go to the car show alone. Hopefully I am well enough for church tomorrow. I am off work through Tuesday. Monday was scheduled off for school. Tuesday I took off to take my sister to a retinal specialist as she seems to be losing her vision. So I have time to recover some more. I like it when things work out this way.

It is Sunday and I am beginning to feel better. This would explain why I have been needing to go to bed early a lot lately.

Good that you got this day to rest. Sorry to know about your sister. What does the doctor say about her condition??

We will see the specialist in two more days. The regular eye doctor says he sees some scarring on her retina.

It has taken me two and a half days and I think I may be human again. We will see if there is too much damage to her eyes.

@rebelann She has had cataract surgery on both eyes. When I got her in to see my eye doctor he said her new lenses are not the problem. It is her retina.

I think she has done permanent damage to her vision by smoking and refusing to quit, and add to that sun exposure.

@DianneN She has had her cataracts removed, but yes, wearing shades is good for your eyes, all the way around.

@GardenGerty I'm so sorry to hear that! All I know is that sun exposure causes cataracts.

@Courtlynn She has friends who wanted to take her and go run around in Wichita. She just was afraid she would not understand the doctor. She did fine. She has macular degeneration. I drive an hour to her house. Wichita, where the appointment is, is an hour from her house, then of course an hour back to her house, then an hour back to my house. The doctor said to expect to stay at least two hours.

Hubby says I cannot go on the appointment, but he is right, it would be a total of four hours driving and at least two hours in the appointment.

I know some of this is from aging, some is from being exposed to too much sun without sunglasses and some of it, unfortunately, is because she smokes. I am anxious to see what the doctor tells her.

@Hannihar Well, we all age, unless we die first. Some of us just do it more healthfully.

You're such a sweet teacher. You actually worry about your students needing a substitute? You get The Teacher of the Year Award from me.

I am a paraprofessional, and not only do I worry about the students but also about the co workers, because a substitute is never the same.

Well, this is Sunday and even though I still have bouts of coughing I feel like a human. I was wanting a shower and food both of which are positive indicators.

I am still a bit sick. She and my hubby ganged up on me and decided I was not going. I am coughing like crazy even now. I know I feel better though as I am really hungry. So I have had a nap today, and done some other stuff, but I have also made three casseroles and some lotion bars.
