Off to meet a Nepalese family

In a short while, we’ll be going to meet the family of the little Nepalese boy that we’re sponsoring. Vince first met his aunt and her mother on his first visit to Nepal. When the big earthquake occurred, we didn’t hear from them from ages but eventually Vince was able to contact Monica again. We are taking some small gifts including these coffee mugs which we’ve had printed with kangaroo photos. We got six done but one smashed on the way over. Luckily we still have enough items for what we need.
We are on the eighth floor and there is no lift so the stairs take a bit of a toll on us each time we go up. Funnily enough, going down isn’t so bad. (That’s a joke) Many in the streets are wearing masks and there are thousands of shops, some with only about a six foot frontage. You’d wonder how they all make a living. We don’t really want to buy souvenirs but we will buy a couple of scarves at some point. Till next time….

@hereandthere It was more or less an organised tour - Forbidden City, Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors and a few other optional things ending with a short cruise to the Three Gorges. I'd be very surprised if some changes don't have to be made.

@hereandthere Yes. I don't think I've seen any that are single storey. Many people seem to live above or behind their shops too.

You suffered some hardships during this trip.It is a good idea to have those coffee mugs printed with kangaroo photos.

i love these mugs! how sad one'd not made the journey. hope all went well with yer meetin'. so glad they survived that horrific quake.
they're wearin' masks? fer what reasonin'? somethin' blowin''n the winds? i've great hopes they've not that new virus from china goin' 'round. anyhow, y'all stay safe, a mask might be a good idea fer y'all, too.
8 flights 'f stairs? i fear i'd not be able to make such :( not 'pright anyhow, 'd most likely be crawlin'. i cringe to think 'f such.
i figured there'd be loads 'f stores 'n possibly e'en roadside vendors. find me somethin' purty, k? jest kiddin', i've no need fer anythin'. 'xcept pics, 'f which i know yer gonna get many.

sounds like when one crosses the border here 'nto mexico. lots 'f beggars, many young'uns sent to tear 't'cher heart.

@crazyhorseladycx It is awful to see children begging - and the old and infirm. You can't help them all.

Why do you think the people are wearing face masks, is the air polluted or is it to protect their lips from the biting cold weather?

@Alexandoy There is a lot of smog. Sometimes you can see the mountains from the rooftop where we have breakfast but not very often.

Think of all the exercise you are getting from climbing 8 flights of stairs!
Are you high up in the mountains? If so, is the air thinner, and do you find it harder to breathe?

@JudyEv That's quite a lot of steps! But it's good exercise, as long as your body can handle it. At least you have a good attitude about it!

We hope to be much fitter by the time we get home! Although the stairs tax us, we're not having trouble on the flat. There is a Nepalese T-shirt which says 'Nepali flat - little bit up, little bit down'. lol
Vince's phone said we did 1004 steps yesterday.
