Here is the promised photo of Neev, the little boy we’re sponsoring in Nepal. He is very pleased with his little self as he has pinched Vince’s cap. He goes to a Montessori school and is doing very well there.
His mother is an albino and doesn’t look at all like a Nepali. She is a lovely lady and very gentle. She runs a shoe shop which has a very tiny frontage. You go through the shop and you’re in a courtyard affair with rooms coming off on all sides. It seems the extended family live in the rooms.
Neev’s aunt is Monica, who Vince met on his initial visit to Nepal. They touched base on and off then lost touch at the time of the earthquake. His father is finding it very difficult to get work in Nepal and may go to Cyprus to study. I’m not sure of the benefit of this. He was going off to work in a call centre at 9 pm. I have no idea what sort of call centre but it must be an awful job. I’ve made a resolution to not be so abrupt with them in future.

I worked in a call center. It's not the best job. You work for a specific company at the call center and take calls for them. I had a lot of angry/upset people on the line. However, there are also outbound call centers that call people randomly to try to sell products. I'm sure you've gotten those calls.
He's a cutie. I'm glad you got to meet him and his family.

Nice little chap. His father is probably the person who answers the phones to IT problems in the UK. Often they are not helpful at all! and frustrating with their poor command of the spoken word!

Lots of the call centers in those areas actually service North American businesses because it is cheap labor.
He is so cute, so glad you are helping.

@JudyEv Ow! That's a lot. Here we have a do not call registry. For awhile, all you did was plug in your phone number and telemarketers wouldn't call. It doesn't seem to work as good now though. I tend to get maybe a call or 2 a week

The sad thing is that most of those who are labeled scammers are simply employees with a script that they have to follow and from what I've been told they're given a list of phone numbers and just have to call every one of them reciting the same script @JudyEv I doubt I could do something like that and maybe that's why this man is going off to school because he is tired of having to do something like that.

i didn't know there are call centers in nepal. i guess they use uk english? call centers in asia usually serve the other part of the world which explains working through the night.

Neev returned the cap. And yes, the father flew to Cyprus just a day or two ago. His wife and Neev stayed behind.

I have to admit I only thought about scam call centers but I suppose some are more legitimate.
