Shortly we’ll be leaving this hotel to move nearer to our other Kathmandu friends. They are actually from Lumbini but are staying with a relative for the wedding of their daughter. We were taken to their house last week and I took this photo of wheat drying in the courtyard. It will be milled into flour once it has dried. This morning Vince had to take photos of one of the young men who have been on the desk during our stay here. He is quite vain and didn’t want the photos taken last night as his hair wasn’t quite right. Don’t you just love ‘em? So he took a heap of photos this morning and now Arkash would like ALL of them emailed to him. I think they’ve reached a compromise.

@JudyEv in the rural areas here, they dry the palay on the concrete road, usually in the secondary roads.

I don't really know. If I get the chance I'll ask someone. In Thailand, we saw rice drying on great bamboo trays. I can't find the photo at the moment.

That's fascinating about the wheat drying. I buy wheat in the bulk cause we have a little electric mill that we make flour with for bread.
