My last post ended with us having a meal at the Hindu Nepali wedding that we attended recently.
We also met up with the bridegroom on the steps of the venue. He has been living in Ohio for a while and had a strong American accent and excellent English. Then it was back to the temple. There seemed to be a lull in proceedings at that point and we wandered around taking photos. Later, the young couple sat cross-legged in the temple and elaborate rituals followed involving incense and various lotions and potions. Finally, they walked four or five times round the inner square of the temple sprinkling some red powder towards the centre.
It was starting to sprinkle, the band moved inside and played for a while. The married couple together with a lot of women and a few men then danced. Vin and I were dragged up to participate but it was all good fun. Good byes seemed to be taking place, the band assembled at the entrance of the temple and began playing. The bride was piggy-backed out on the back of an uncle to a decorated car. She then walked round it sprinkling it with powder. The groom joined her and off they went Soon after that, the venue was packed up and we walked back to the parents’ house. It was raining by now but luckily quite a light drizzle. It was also cooling off rapidly.
The photo is of a group of many lovely young things in saris who also attended the wedding.

What a nice picture. Is that kind of sari their formal attire or they also wear that for going somewhere like to the mall? Nice picture you have there.

@JudyEv that means the sari is still a common wear there.

I did see saris in the street quite a bit but you could always tell if someone was going to a special function as their hair and make-up would be more elaborate and they would be wearing more jewellery. I think these would be their 'best' saris.

The people of Nepal sure do like to dress in vivid colors, at least for weddings!

@JudyEv Do the majority of the people follow the Hindu religion?
Also, I just read online yesterday that even Nepal has a case of the Coronavirus in its country.

@moffittjc China is their neighbour and they've been pushing tourism between the two countries so I guess it was bound to happen. The people here seem to be either Hindu or Buddhist. I'm not sure which is more predominant but I'd guess Buddhist given all the temples, etc.

Their features I notice are not 'pure' nepalese- something about their eyes
